元旦前夕，调查接近尾声。接近调查组的人士向南都记者透露，根据调查，林伟忠的问题主要集中在违规使用集体土地及贪污公款两方面。其中，在违规使用集体土地方面，林伟忠名下共拥有二十余栋房产，这些房产大多系违规获取使用集体土地所建。建成后，曾担任厚街城建办主任等职的林伟忠利用手中职权，给这些违规建设的房产办理了房产证等相关证明。
该人士称，这些违规办证的房产有可能被全部没收。该消息人士还称，目前已有数名厚街城建部门工作人员受此案牵连。
调查称其身家达不到20亿
在贪污公款方面，上述人士透露，林伟忠的贪污情节均出现在其担任厚街武装部部长期间。据该人士介绍，厚街政府每年划拨武装部经费大约在两三百万元之间，这些经费主要被安排用于民兵训练以及征兵工作等。林伟忠自担任武装部部长起，即独揽财权，一方面向厚街各村支部乱收费以完成武装部日常工作，另一方面则把本该用于这些工作的数百万元经费贪没。
上述人士简单描述了林伟忠的受审情况，称林伟忠患有糖尿病、高血压等疾病，在受审期间身体状况糟糕。该人士还称，综合整个调查情况，林伟忠的身家远远达不到网友声称的20亿元，在被带走调查前，林伟忠的银行存款共计只有几百万元。
据上述人士透露，元旦过后，有关部门把林伟忠涉嫌犯罪问题移送司法机关处理，目前林伟忠已被东莞市检察院批捕。
