中国疾控中心副主任冯子健说，H7N9病毒无论是从流行病学还是病毒学上，目前都没有发现有重要变异。
冯子健：一个是传播能力是不是更容易从禽传染到人，是不是更容易人传人？这个没有发生变化，跟去年看到的情况是一样的；第二个是独立的变异，是不是更厉害了？导致发病以后更严重？出现的重症病例和死亡病例更多了？这个情况也没有出现。独立也没有发生变异；第三就是看抗病毒药物的耐药也没有发生变异。它仍然对烷类的药物是耐药的，对神经氨酸抑制剂类的药物是敏感的。我们关注的变异的三个方面都没有发生新的变化。
目前H7N9仍然属于散发状态，浙江、广东等南方省份较为高发。中国疾控中心流行病学首席专家曾光教授认为，病毒发生在哪些地区具有一定的偶然性。
