大墩村村支书、村委会主任李国孩在接受人民网记者采访时说，该村庙的建设已经征得陵水县委领导的同意和默许。但李国孩对村庙造价680万元心存异议：“我们合同有约定，造价在280万元到330万元之间。如今施工方把造价抬高那么多，作为村委会书记，我无法向村委会其他成员和村民交待。”
但施工方杨先生则表示，根据工程占地、材料费用、人工费用等进行核算，“我们的确花了680多万元。如果大墩村委会少给我们10万20万可以商量，但拖欠多了我们就亏本啦。”
据了解，目前大墩村委会已经因为修村庙向施工方支付了310万元，欠下的380万元则不愿意支付，为此施工方已经聘请律师，准备通过司法程序处理此事。
一位在外地打工的大墩村村民向记者抱怨说：“大墩村这些年因为征地的确是很有钱。但再有钱也不能乱花呀。花680万元建一座村庙，这不是大大的浪费吗？如今中央都在倡导节约型社会，花这么多钱建一座村庙，不知道村委会领导是怎么考虑的。”
