中共广西壮族自治区委员会书记彭清华曾就此次事件向广东民众致歉。他曾说，2012年龙江河发生水污染事故后，广西建立了环境倒逼机制，对全区的涉重企业进行了全面的清查，但由于形式主义等原因，贺江水污染隐患未能排除，最终导致事故的发生。现在看来，这个事故的发生不是偶然的，沿江那么多非法选矿厂存在，地方官员视而不见，是事故发生的主要原因之一。(完)
