今天，这条新闻得到官方媒体的深度挖掘，题为《阜阳市委书记乘公交“私访”被网友认出 回应：经常坐》的稿子，引发了更广泛的讨论。
在部分网友为官员坐公交的行为点赞的时候，也不乏“形式主义”、“作秀”的议论，更有网友一针见血地评论：周六本来就不是工作日，官员坐坐公交，算什么新闻？
“官员坐公交”，到底该不该是新闻？
用“官员”“公交”等关键词稍加检索，就会发现官员采用公共交通方式出行的新闻，还真是不少。
前些年，为缓解交通拥堵，云南昆明市委书记杨崇勇曾经作出表率，带头坐公交车上班；当时担任北京市环保局副局长的杜少中曾公开承诺：每月少开一天车，尽可能多乘坐公交车；福建厦门交通委还曾出台过规定，该市交通委领导每月乘公交不少于5趟次，其他干部每月不少于10趟次……正如北京市副书记吉林所说：“他们(百姓)不相信我也坐公交，其实市委市政府很多官员都乘公交或坐地铁。”
再看看国外，官员坐公共交通出行的案例就更多了，英国首相卡梅伦上班的时候喜欢骑自行车，纽约前市长、美国传媒大亨迈克尔·布隆伯格天天上班时挤地铁，韩国首尔市政府一度把“官车”数量砍到4辆，曾被提名为韩国新国务总理的金台镐因为公车私用导致其引咎自退……

就像上海人大代表刘利民曾提的议案中说的那样：领导干部及公务员应该坚持每半个月中的一天排队挤公交车上下班，了解公交是否真正方便群众；每个月亲自到医院去一次，了解医疗改革工作情况；每三个月到警署暗访一次，了解政务公开情况……
如果我们的官员能做到这些，那么，官员坐公交就不会是新闻。而现在一个本不应算是新闻的新闻成了新闻，有两个原因：
第一，乘坐公共交通工具的官员还是太少太少，简直可以用“弥足珍贵”来形容。
尽管让官员们坐公交有那么多实实在在的榜样、有那么多明明确确的好处，但是肯去乘坐公交的官员还是凤毛麟角，少到这种事件具有了新闻价值！每有一位官员去坐公交，都会引发媒体报道的热情和兴趣。
正如评论员朱四倍所评：我国官员习惯用权力调控资源，并且权力的行使充满了封闭性和神秘感，导致了官员特权的存在，乃至成了官员身份的象征。而在国外，官员的任何运用权力的行为都要接受监督。正是这种差别的存在导致了官员的不同行为选择，进而才出现了我国官员坐公交成新闻的现象。而要让官员坐公交不成新闻，首先就要控制权力，让权力透明化和公开化，让官员的行为亮在公众面前。
简言之，在特权光环笼罩下，我们的领导无论亲自干点什么，都足矣成新闻。
如何才能将权力关进笼子，如何才能打破领导特权，不得不说媒体舆论监督责任的重大。
而媒体监督责任的缺失，却成了官员坐公交屡成新闻的另一个重要原因。
评论员卢云东曾尖锐指出：与西方媒体对所谓的“负面”报道的特殊偏好，对各类问题穷追猛打的媒体观不同，很多媒体说穿了已完全沦为宣传政策的工具，甚至专为领导歌功颂德，变成为某些官员打造人气，培植官气，蒙蔽民众，违法乱纪的工具。
回望媒体追捧塑造的明星官员们，落马者何其多也！而这样的案例多了，媒体的公信力便一点点丧失了。
不妨想象下，当媒体担当起自己的监督责任时，报出的新闻就不会再是官员今日坐公交，而应该是官员多久没坐公交，或官员应该坐公交时却坐公车这类新闻。
我们恳切地希望，让官员坐公交，早日不再成新闻！
