微调是为符合“宪法精神”
“教育部主秘”王作台说，这波课纲微调，主要是让将教科书内容及用词符合“宪法精神”。以地理科来说，将原先教科书中提到关于“中国”的名词，一律改为“中国大陆”。譬如原先课纲中提到“中国的人口及都市”，调整成“中国大陆的人口及都市”。
至于历史科，王作台表示，现行高中教科书台湾史与中国史切割太清楚，造成不连贯，且许多台湾史内容偏离“宪法”稍微远一点，这次决定调过来。
现行高中历史教科书对于日本殖民统治台湾期间太过歌功颂德，好像现在台湾的建设，都是以前日本人打的基础。微调后的历史课纲，不美化日本殖民统治，而是强调台湾主体性。
不再美化日本殖民统治
台湾文化大学史学系兼任教授王仲孚表示，现有历史教科书，对日本殖民统治台湾，太多歌功颂德，不适当。譬如现行教科书说日本人当年在台湾卫生做得很好，但真正原因是为了让更多日本人愿意移民台湾，出发点根本不是为台湾人着想，这一点教科书应该讲清楚。
王仲孚又举例，现在历史教科书说日本人在台湾建设铁路，成为之后台湾铁路发展的基石。但事实上，在日本人之前，清朝刘铭传就已在台湾建设铁路。
语文科方面，范文增加了楚辞、荀子与史记的文章，期使文化经典教材的选材范围能够涵盖传统经史子集各部分，以更具代表性。(中国台湾网 王文英)
