According to archeological experts speculated that the Song dynasty calligrapher Mi Fu family plot in the ancient tombs and a large links suspected Rice's family tomb.
This reporter learned that, early stage of this tomb was destroyed by construction, reported by others, came to the rescue by the archaeological excavation unearthed has been cleaned up some of the existing artifacts. Judging from the appearance, it was more like a deep, height from the base to the dome of the Tomb more than 4 m, domed Octagon. Brick tomb of imitative timber structure arches, the brick vault in the form of housing styles are reproduced.
Live project, the city of Xiangyang, head of cultural relics and Archaeology Research Institute, Wang Chih-kang told reporters, the height from the base to the dome of the Tomb, crypt space pattern, shows that the Tomb owner was alive have some sort of social status and financial well-being. This tomb is different from ramps to the South of burial customs in the Song dynasty, but towards the seven hundred or eight hundred metres of Mi Fu descendent colony of rice village location.
Expert analysis, the tombs associated with Mi Fumi's family cemetery is high, should be the m family tomb. Post cleanup, research is still in progress.
新华网武汉1月26日电（记者袁志国、李伟）近日，湖北襄阳文物考古研究所在襄阳市高新区一工地上抢救发掘出一座宋代古墓。据考古专家推测，这座墓葬与宋代书法家米芾家族墓地有很大的关联，疑似米氏家族墓。
记者了解到，这座墓葬前期曾遭到工地施工破坏，经他人举报后，考古所赶来进行抢救发掘，目前已经清理出土部分文物。从外观来看，这座古墓更像是一座深井，从墓基到穹顶高度4米以上，穹顶呈八角形。砖砌仿木结构的墓室牌楼，砖雕形式的墓室再现了当时房屋的样式。
现场项目负责人、襄阳市文物考古研究所王志刚向记者介绍，从墓基到穹顶的高度、墓室空间格局，显示出古墓主人生前具有一定的社会地位和财力。此墓不同于宋代墓道向南的下葬习俗，而是朝向七八百米处的米芾后代的聚居地米家庄方位。
专家分析，这座墓葬与米芾米氏家族墓地关联度很高，应该是米氏家族墓。后期清理、研究工作仍在进行中。
