谈互殴风波：感觉人格极端受贬低
记者：还记得三年前“互殴”的场景？
廖曜中：记得，他(万春生)辱骂、挥拳打我，其他人拉偏架，有人抱住我不让我还手，只能挨他打，挨了10多拳，还被踢了几脚，我只还了一脚。事后，我打110报警，他向组织部告状；1小时后，组织部副部长来到司法局，训斥我俩。一般来说，组织是压副职，为正职撑腰的，当时我很被动，委屈。
记者：事发第三天，你与万春生“握手言和”的声明是如何出台的？
廖曜中：这事经媒体报道后，组织部的负责人就来找我们，说这事在网上炒开了，影响很不好，撮合我俩握手言和。我起初是想握手言和的，但在签字时，他(万春生)改了两个字，那两个字很关键，本来是他向我道歉，但改完后变成我也向他道了歉，两个人抵消了，没有谁对谁错了。
记者：你公然吐槽“握手言和”声明“是小孩的玩意儿”、“被逼的，废纸一张”，想到后果吗？
廖曜中：别人会说我出尔反尔，不地道；但我认为在那种情景下，来个不地道也无可厚非。几个月后，组织部想调我到衡阳商会，我提议能不能换个部门，但一名领导说其他单位都不敢要我，并说“人家不想与你为伍，你这种性格，人家谁敢要你”。我当时感觉人格极端受贬低，甩下一句话“大不了，我辞职走人”。
谈公职生涯：想用上法律知识，环境不允许
记者：辞职的根本原因是什么？
廖曜中：我自认在体制内没有多大发展前途；我是学法律的，一次又一次想用上(法律知识)，但周围的环境不允许；一部分领导不懂法或不依法。这就意味着，我在体制内呆下去意义不大，我也不想占着茅坑不拉屎。
记者：能否举几个实例？
廖曜中：第一例，我做副县长时，有个案子不符合程序，我建议撤案，但重要领导(比我官大)希望维持；我说，撤案后把法律手续完善下不是更好吗？对方说撤案很没面子，我说，如果这样的话那我分管这个法制办还有什么意义？我拒绝签字，因为这个，直接导致我被调走。第二例，客运办钓鱼执法，当事人找到了我，我说执法程序不对，但客运办不买账，还状告到县领导那里，此事最后不了了之。
记者：25年公职生涯，是否总结过自己的“不足”？
廖曜中：我跟过领导，但是跟得不紧，总感觉领导与你保持着一段距离。想跟得紧吧，又下不了手，人格尊严上做不来，良心也过不去，也没本钱去搞关系，再说法律不允许。曾有几个领导跟我的关系非常好，但跟领导汇报时提出的正当要求，不是拖，就是不给正面答复，反正就是实现不了。
谈官场：努力过，奋斗过，坚持过
记者：回过头来，如何看待自己的辞职？
廖曜中：在官场，我努力过，奋斗过，坚持了，也释然了；赖在官场，副处级干部是有保障，但工资一年也就5万元左右，可做学问和做律师，不仅挣钱，还可实现心中所想。有些人从体制上看问题，我是异类，这伤了我的心，辞职下海，海阔凭鱼跃，天高任鸟飞。
记者：“中途”是否曾想脱离过？
廖曜中：1995年7月我中央党校硕士毕业后，曾去深圳找工作，别人一看我的毕业证，就开玩笑说你应该去做副县长，打什么工呀；回到衡阳几年后，我果真考上了副县长。当时衡阳市研究生、博士副县长屈指可数，而我只有33岁，还是有实职的副处级干部。
记者：公职生涯有何较深的感触和遗憾？
廖曜中：以前一直想写一篇关于殡葬改革收费问题的文章，但想到自己官员的身份，文章不仅会挨同僚骂，还会影响仕途，就搁置了。现在离开体制了，以前做不了的研究，现在可以放开手研究了。
谈未来：不排除再进事业单位
记者：为何“1个月辞职”，最终却拖了2年？
廖曜中：当初是下定决心辞职的，但可能是太压抑，后来肠胃一直不好。2013年春节后，我到北京读博士后，通过中医扎针治疗，病情才有了缓解。我当时想，身体都这样了，还辞职干吗，等死算了。
记者：何时去读的博士后？
廖曜中：2012年12月收到的博士后录取通知书，现在中国社会科学院法学研究所，主攻土地所有权及征收问题的研究。我辞职后最理想的职业是做农人，但没有本钱，做不了农民了。
记者：谈下辞职的过程吧。
廖曜中：身体康复后，我开始主动辞职，辞职前我和组织部门沟通了好多次、打了报告的，希望组织能给我解决正处级。2013年5月，单位主动打电话给我，表示任命我做副会长，给我解决正处级。但2013年10月份我下定决心正式辞职，组织部门又说解决不了，说我(因互殴)受过警告处分，有影响。我说警告处分在一年内有影响，过了这么多年，没影响了，但组织部门没有理我。
记者：辞职前转为正处(调研员)有什么好处？
廖曜中：将来评职称，行政级别大一点会好一点，或者将来政策变化有可能进事业单位，是正处级的职务，就有个好的起点。
记者：不排除日后重回体制内？
廖曜中：是的，将来不排除进入事业单位。 据《东方早报》

打斗官员今何在
作为与廖曜中发生冲突的另一方，衡阳市司法局原局长万春生依然在体制内任职。2012年2月，与廖曜中一同被免职后，万春生在2月16日的政协衡阳第十届委员会常务委员会第三次会议上被增补为该届政协委员，同时被任命为政协衡阳市委员会副秘书长。在2013年的衡阳市新一届政协常委会中，万春生二次被任命为副秘书长。此外，相关报道显示，万春生在2012年还担任了衡阳新农村工作队队长。
2012年12月11日，时任湖北阳新县物价局副局长的张艺军，因复印一份会议纪要跟办公室主任苏敏发生打斗。事后二人分别被行政拘留和刑事拘留。当地官方未通报除了行政拘留外，是否对张艺军进行了其他党政处分。阳新县物价局官网的领导简介栏目中，一正三副四名局长职务中已无张艺军。
另据中新网报道，2013年10月16日，因致人轻伤，苏敏被刑拘关押到黄石市看守所。
2012年10月12日，因劝阻乱倒垃圾，邓州市57岁的环卫工人彭付振被该市卫生局干部党青殴打，致多处软组织受伤。事后，公安部门对党青给予行政拘留9日、罚款5000元的处罚。邓州市卫生局方面曾称，党青原系邓州卫校正股级干部，于2007年3月借调邓州市卫生局爱卫办任主任，事发后被行政降级、退回邓州卫校。邓州市纪检委一工作人员当时表示，后续还会作相应处理，但至今未见官方通报。
