这一消息强化了赵登贤关于弟弟无辜的判断：“一个都要背着炸药包自杀的人怎么会惦记着赚五块钱？”因为警方披露细节有限，赵登贤并不清楚这个证人是否是扭转局面的关键。直至8月7日的案情通报，赵才发现林国财这个被认为有精神障碍的人“说的并不假”。
5月21日，黄兴聪和老伴、儿媳被警方送回了山村里的家。努力未果的赵登继、赵登贤也回到了昆明和曲靖。除了更新了一条微博后，赵登贤不确定，自己还能为证明兄弟清白做什么？
回到山村后，赵登用的妻子曾建花病倒了，先前赵登用买回的两头猪仔也饿死了一个，除了照看孙子，黄兴聪每天做的一件事，便是扯几把包谷叶丢进猪圈里。
此后，56岁的黄兴聪去过一次巧家县城。这一次她呆了十多天。她习惯蹲在巧家县城的主街道边，茫然地望着四周。总有人围过来，和她聊她儿子，好奇者希望从赵登用的家人那里获得一些信息。
这个此前很少来县城的老妇，因为死于非命的儿子，成了巧家县的名人。另一些拆迁户甚至希望从她那里了解，拆迁补偿何时能够重启。
赵登用死后，他的父亲赵举朝变得更加沉默寡言。他每天早上都要爬到山上去刨洋芋。被警察带去县城后，赵举朝再没去过。面对记者的询问，他十多分钟能蹦出几个字，每次都是重复一句话：日子还要过啊，全家人都去了，家里的田哪个种？
“正在调查中”，成为黄兴聪和儿媳曾建花听到最多的一句话。不死心的黄兴聪在集市上扯了一块红布，挂在自家门前。
元凶
曾建花摸到了邓德勇家的门前，来回踱步却始终没有敲门而入。她咬牙回忆道，当时我真想冲进去砍他的家人。
身处金沙江河谷地带的巧家县，在6月月底的干燥中逐渐抬高温度。曾建花又一次从公安局走出，没有任何新消息的她搭乘返回山村的摩托车。自恃消息灵通的这位摩的司机，并不知道曾的身份。闲谈之间，他告诉曾建花，有两个迤博村村民雇了赵登用，已经被警方抓了。
事实上，邓德勇早在5月31日凌晨便被警察带走，而远在玉溪打工的宋朝玉则在第二天在一场牌局中被带走。这时，距离赵登用被确定为犯罪嫌疑人仅仅过去了20天。
一开始，憨厚的曾建花不敢轻信这个官方尚未发布的消息。直到又一次来到县城，好友李令向她确证了两个村民的姓名。李令是县政府一位公务员的远亲。
曾建花又跑到了县公安局，向接待的两名警察说出了两个村民的名字。然而，警方没有回答是还是否。在公安局的过道里徘徊了半小时后，曾建花又一次离开。
循着四处打探的消息，曾建花摸到了邓德勇家的门前，来回踱步却始终没有敲门而入。她咬牙回忆道，当时我真想冲进去砍他的家人。最终，曾建花保持了克制。
时间进入7月，一云南媒体记者电话告知赵登贤，省里要给他弟弟翻案。电话里，这名记者含糊其辞。一头雾水的赵登贤联系了某门户网站的编辑，让他帮忙更新自己的微博。
来自政府内部的消息则等到了7月23日。清晨醒来的赵登贤，收到了一条短信：巧家爆炸案经公安部督办，确认为两名征地钉子户所为，其中一名姓宋。
这一天中午，稍有空闲的他回拨过去，对方告知了身份和姓名，赵确认对方是云南省公安厅的一名官员。
两周后，昭通警方正式对外通报了相同的内容。对于其中的原因，云南省公安厅的一个官员解释道，“部委的介入，让我们异常谨慎，也吸取了上一次的经验，所有证据链完整后，方才发布信息”。据悉，发布前夜，云南省公安厅还召集本地媒体管理层，商讨发布策略。
被“冤枉”的公安局长
5月14日的新闻发布会不久，上级便下发通知：鉴于基层官员应对媒体素质不足，原则上不准接受口头采访，一律使用书面采访。
巧家县官方几乎是和赵登用一家同时陷入了舆论漩涡。
爆炸案发生3小时后，一条由云南一家媒体的首席记者发布的微博被疯狂转发：一男子不满强拆炸政府大楼，四人死亡！至此，爆炸与强拆被强制捆绑在一起。同样是这家媒体的记者，大约在13时最先到达爆炸现场，随后发布了一条微博：一李姓女拆迁户将炸药放在孩子的背篓里，最终在拆迁办签协议时引爆。
这条微博事后被证明失实，据南方周末记者调查，误报源自记者采信了外围信息。当时现场极度混乱，等待签约的拆迁户多为同一家族。彼此很熟悉。谁不见了，就会被误以为是引爆者。事实上，所谓的李姓女拆迁户当时正在四川泸州打工。
“李姓女拆迁户将炸药放在孩子的背篓引爆”的信息，最终在次日被云南媒体采信刊登。同一天，官方推出了第二份通报，其中确认犯罪嫌疑人系赵登用。这是一个并非拆迁户的年轻人，他与拆迁唯一的牵强联系便是租住了迤博村一彭姓拆迁户15平米的房间。
针对“李姓女拆迁户引爆炸药”的传言，巧家县警方连夜将远在四川泸州打工的李姓女子接回。爆炸次日，该女子现身医院接受媒体记者采访。她的丈夫在这次爆炸中遇难，婆婆和儿子有轻微的擦伤。
然而，这场自证清白的努力并不成功。
5月11日晚，两家中央媒体获准观看监控视频，但不能录像。两张拆迁现场的视频截图由此披露，照片中便是斜着身子的赵登用。5月12日，对于其他记者要求观看监控录像的要求，被以侦查期间需要保密为由谢绝。
在外界看来，巧家县官方封闭信息甚至故意造假。然而，多位当地官员表示，为了信息公开，他们已经做了最大努力。“我们一个连官方微博都没有的穷地方，哪架得住天南海北网友的挑刺？”
爆炸发生第四天，一场新闻发布会在巧家县公安局二楼的会议室召开，并非新闻发言人出身的县公安局局长杨朝邦主持了这场发布会。
据多位巧家县官员透露，连夜上报且几经争取后，省公安厅同意向所有媒体开放录像，并展示相关证据。前提只有一个，不准录音录像。
然而，让巧家官方措手不及的是，这场仓促开锣的新闻发布会，最终成为该县遭遇最大信任危机的最高点。
5月14日上午，巧家县公安局播放了两段监控视频，这是从签约现场六枚摄像头中采集而来。
工作人员特意放慢了一个赵登用侧身的镜头，证明他确实背着一个双肩包，不过是用一个肩膀背的，右手搭在背包带子上，左手下垂。
念完通稿放完录像后，杨朝邦给了记者自由提问的机会。根据事后内部流出的一份录音显示，当现场记者问“这是初步结论还是最后定型”时，杨回答：这个案件是赵登用所为，这是毋庸置疑的。我作为一个公安局局长，面对这么多媒体，敢拿自己的职务、敢拿前程、敢拿法律、敢拿事实开玩笑吗？
这一原话，经由现场记者演绎，最后落于纸面的是“我可以以一个局长的名义和自己的前程来担保”。
对于公安局局长“前程担保”一说，该县县委多位官员解释，这完全是被舆论夸张，“当时爆炸点就在赵身上，这是省厅二十多位专家有技术支撑的结论，不怀疑赵登用还能怀疑谁？”
然而，这并非这场新闻发布会唯一可检讨之处。面对记者询问作案动机时，杨朝邦连续用了两次相同的比喻，“动机这个东西不好说，我喝了一杯水，然后我不在了。你知道我为什么喝这杯水吗？”
根据录音，在强调动机有待调查后，杨朝邦又抛出令人错愕的结论：从赵登用本人生前的日记QQ等文字资料，以及其媳妇所写给他的信件来看，夫妻之间的感情并不是很好。
8月7日，云南省公安厅一官员接受南方周末记者采访时，谈到了巧家县5月14日这次新闻发布会的诸多不足：既然声称动机有待调查，就不该直接抛出与拆迁无关的论断，更不应该出现这种夫妻不和的暗示性表述。
事实上，在云南省公安系统高层，早已对这场新闻发布会予以全盘否定：在案件尚未完全侦破的情况下，擅自简单、主观地通报了案侦工作的相关情况。通报有不严谨、不确切的地方。

赔款
“事情还没有讲清楚。冤枉我家娃儿的人还没有负责，我们不会领。”执拗的黄兴聪拒绝了6万块钱。
8月9日下午，巧家县公安局纪委、包谷垴乡政府工作人员，县民政局的人来到了黄兴聪面前。此行的目的便是转交6万元救助金。来者说明3万元属安葬费用，另外3万则是赵家在调查期间的误工损失。据了解，巧家县政府对于其他3位死者的救助金额同样是6万元。
黄兴聪告诉记者，三个月以来，有三笔来自政府的慰问金，分别是4000元、3000元、2000元。“这次数字有点大”，黄要求对方提供书面证据，说明小儿子赵登用是无辜的，再盖上政府公章，“这样我才能收”。
这样的要求没有被同意。
“事情还没有讲清楚，冤枉我家娃儿的人还没有负责，我们不会领。”执拗的黄兴聪拒绝了6万块钱。
在巧家县城，官员们可以稍微喘一口气。多位巧家县官员透露，除了部委为案件翻案外，国务院调查组的最后结论是，在现行体制下当地拆迁政策并不违法。
细究当地征地拆迁补偿政策，在所有国家级贫困县里，每亩6.5-8.5万的征地补偿处于中上水平。而在巧家县国土局一官员看来，拆迁补偿则已远超云南省国土厅的综合补偿标准，在全昭通市来看，也是最高的。
被最先锁定的犯罪嫌疑人之一的邓德勇便是无法获得安置补偿的人，“按照政策，爸爸有，大哥有，二哥有，就是他没有”，邓的家属将此归结于邓最终雇人引爆的原因。
吊诡的是，另一位犯罪嫌疑人宋朝玉暂时还不能算拆迁户，仅仅在2009年大规模征收农田时，最后成为了一个失地农民。据信，宋曾有两次服刑经历，其长子曾在其坐牢期间从楼顶摔下身亡。出狱后，宋又生育一女。因为案情细节披露有限，尚无法确定作案动机是否与个人经历有关。
被抓走两个月后，邓的家人一直无法获准进入看守所，他们聘请的昆明律师王世云最终见到了邓德勇，据律师转述的说法，邓已承认因拆迁作案，但具体动机和实施细节，邓表示“我要等到在法庭上才能说出来”。
史无前例的官员大接访也在7月展开。在县委大礼堂里，县委书记亲自接待访民，到场群众规模空前。不过，又有新问题，甚至有百姓要求政府归还嘉庆年间的地契。迤博村的村民诉求没有太离谱，他们提出，可以拆迁，但是要求政府承诺保证必要的社会保障，以及安置地段不能是原定的坟山。据到场者透露，县委书记没有当即表态，而是说8月中旬便会有反应。
8月9日，曾建花预感大批记者会再次云集巧家，天一擦亮，她就坐车下山了，她准备讲述三个月的委屈。让她失望的是，这一次前来聆听的记者寥寥。郁闷的曾建花又坐上了前往昆明的中巴车，她和赵登用在这座城市相识并相爱。
这期间，乡干部又上门劝说黄兴聪收下这6万块钱。黄兴聪不禁想起儿子，伤感之处，嚎啕大哭。作者：南方周末记者 赵一海
