根据中国电信集团的部署，中国电信于2月14日在全国开通4G体验，首批将在近百个城市提供4G服务，北京电信表示，北京地区在中国电信首批开通4G服务的城市之列，并且早已作好准备，经过积极的4G网络建设，目前4G信号已覆盖北京主要区域。

首期推出两类4G终端提供体验：
中国电信的4G服务首期推出上网卡、上网宝(MIFI)产品，目前的理论下行速率最高可达100Mbps。据介绍，北京电信此次上市的体验终端包含无线上网卡(数据卡)、天翼上网宝(MIFI)两类，其中，MIFI也叫上网宝，借助它可以将4G信号转换为wifi信号，实现平板电脑、手机、笔记本多终端共享上网，使用时只需打开上网宝，用电脑或手机搜索到wifi信号，点击接入即可。
上网卡则方便笔记本等终端使用，借助它，笔记本可以在移动状态下随时随地上网，使用时将上网卡插入笔记本USB接口，会自动安装驱动，按照提示连接即可上网。
据悉，中国电信4G上网宝与上网卡套餐资费一致，均为预付费，即买即用，流量不区分1X/3G/4G”而且，中国电信4G上网卡价格也不高，半年卡费用300元，包含6G流量；年卡费用600元，包含12G流量。
北京电信还推出一项优惠，购买4G数据卡加1元即可获赠价值200元的‘天翼4G上市纪念卡”，纪念卡包含4G流量，可以给电信数据卡及手机充流量，一次性充流量后有效期3个月，不仅具有纪念意义，而且具有实用价值。
在8个营业厅开通4G体验的同时，北京电信还在市级标兵车“北京南站-首都机场”线路的一辆机场巴士上安装了设备，实现了天翼4G转WIFI的功能，在巴士上覆盖了天翼车载WiFi网络。电信用户乘客通过具备WiFi功能的移动终端，搜索到SSID“ChinaNet-4G”打开网页后，经过手机号及密码认证即可接入天翼4G网络。
