据Jim Fenhagen透露，今年春天首次亮相的《新闻联播》新演播室，将会采用最新的、超高分辨率的LED技术，其中仅有2.9毫米像素点的高分辨率屏幕将会是新演播室的一大亮点，而在此之前，最高分辩率的像素点是4毫米，这也意味着央视全新投入使用的新闻联播新演播室的led屏将会达到前所未有的清晰。虽然造价也贵，但Jim Fenhagen说，目前美国新闻演播室的技术还没有达到这个水准，央视的新演播室所使用的技术等也将会成为美国未来演播室的设计方向。

此外，央视新址中即将全新投入的新闻演播室也将会是一个半开放的办公状态，观众透过玻璃墙能看到一个能容纳75人的新闻编辑部。而Jim Fenhagen透露，起初为央视提供了很多基于中国特色的设计方案，但都被央视方面予以了拒绝。而这些新址演播室的设备在美国新泽西做好之后运往中国，当初在正式调试的设备时候，因为央视新址消防的相关规定需要夜间关闭设备，双方还就此进行过长时间的沟通与妥协。
