　　2月15日，广西一家都市报报道称，广西阳朔县兴坪镇村民莫某此前因涉嫌盗窃被阳朔县公安局刑拘并逮捕，关押在阳朔县看守所内。2013年12月16日，莫某突然被送往阳朔县人民医院抢救。次日晚，莫某因抢救无效死亡。事后，家属对莫某死亡原因存疑，并向阳朔县公安局各讨说法。

　　报道称，阳朔县公安局和死者家属就此事多次协商。最后，阳朔县公安局补偿90万元，“作为死者亲属的死亡补偿费、赡养费和精神抚慰金等”，并约定在莫某下葬后3天支付。阳朔县公安局还与死者家属签订了协议，约定如查明莫某是自发病死亡，家属可不退还这笔钱；如查明莫某系其他原因(包括在看守所受他人殴打、互殴等原因)死亡，家属也不得再提出赔偿要求。协议还特别强调，死者家属不得爆料或借助媒体炒作给阳朔县公安局造成不良影响；如有违约，则需退还全部补偿款。

　　2月16日，桂林市公安局新闻发言人刘青告诉记者，《补偿90万元 此事“莫张扬”》这篇报道所反映的问题，引起桂林市公安局高度重视，并于2月15日成立调查组前往阳朔县，就此事深入展开调查，调查结果将及时向社会公布。
