　　同时，调查人员每次前往蒲圻加工厂调查时，都会抽取鱼油样本进行DNA测试，以确认该产品是否产自濒危物种。经美国佛罗里达州盖伊哈维研究所和另一家海外科研机构鉴定，确定蒲岐加工厂内所屠宰鲨鱼有受国际公约CITES附录‖保护的姥鲨和大白鲨。“为何这些属于深海，从未对人类构成任何伤害的生物，会遭到这样工业式大规模屠杀，实在令人难以置信。”野生动物危机因此呼吁终止相关贸易，“否则这些物种将被迫走上灭绝之路”。该机构认为，未来以休闲潜水为主的鲨鱼旅游业，将是比屠宰加工业更有发展潜力的替代产业。

　　对此，乐清市海洋与渔业部门回应称，蒲岐鲨鱼加工产业是得到了国家相关部门许可的，主要是针对国内鲨鱼进行深加工，并不直接屠鲨，所收购鲨鱼也多来自山东、福建等沿海港口，以及东南亚、欧美地区，近些年该地鲨鱼加工业已日趋衰落。
