据介绍，中央纪委监察部在未增加编制的前提下，此轮改革中共增加了3个机构，其中，纪检监察室就有两个。加上去年机构改革增设的两个纪检监察室，中纪委监察部内负责办案的机构由原先的8个增加到12个，占27个内设机构的将近一半。
陈文清还透露了案件查办室的人员规模：“每个纪检监察室均配备30名人员，设4个处；改革后，直接从事纪检监察业务的人员增加了100多人。”根据要求，纪检监察室既要查办贪污贿赂案件，又需注重查办玩忽职守和滥用职权的渎职案件。
此次改革中，新增的另一个机构是纪检监察干部监督室。北京大学廉政建设研究中心副主任庄德将之称为“纪委内部的纪委”，以解决纪检监察干部的监督问题。
陈文清说，该处室由中共中央书记处书记、中央纪委副书记赵洪祝直接分管，专门负责对纪检干部的监督，防止队伍中出现“蛀虫”，及时清理“害群之马”。据透露，这一处室的编制也是30人，设4个处。
综合12个纪检监察室和1个纪检监察干部监督室情况可见，目前，中纪委监察部内办案人员已近400人。
反腐败研究学者、北京航空航天大学廉洁研究和教育中心主任任建明对中纪委内部案件查办力量统计发现，首轮调整前，中纪委案件查办力量占其总人数的20%-25%；经过两次调整，案件查办力量占比已超过1/3。
