　　凌子群原是清远市公安局森林分局局长，因参与赌博被免职。清远市检察机关通报称，2月13日，市民郑先生检举凌子群参与网上赌球经媒体曝光后，引起社会各界关注。记者采访获悉，网上举报凌子群的郑先生与凌有30多年的朋友交情，他是凌某赌球借款时的担保人。

　　郑先生说，在去年9月份，凌子群在皇冠足球网上赌球，第一周应该输了差不多80万元，只还给了庄家十六七万元，凌想翻本，于是狠下赌注，又输了几十万元。庄家随后开了200万元的信用额度给他赌，“这200万元信用额度当晚凌某就用完了。”

　　郑先生说，凌子群因赌球欠了100多万元外债，无力偿还，庄家邓某就找到他一起去了凌某的办公室，凌某当时签下了3张共计100多万元的欠条，而郑先生在庄家威逼之下只能在担保人一栏签了名。由于凌某无力偿还，去年11月份庄家邓某起诉，作为担保人的郑先生多处物业被法院查封。郑先生认为该笔欠款是赌债，不该受法律保护，而“凌某为了保住这份工作，跟我私下承认是赌球，但在法院的调查中，只承认是民间借贷来做废旧五金生意”。

　　郑先生称自己觉得凌是一个局长，有一定实力，愿意为他担保。而庄家则知道郑某的经济情况，同意借钱给凌某。为此郑某的房产和银行卡都已被封。

　　该局长曾对记者否认赌球

　　凌子群在官方调查之前接受媒体记者采访时，承认了有这笔欠款。不过他称该借款是经担保人介绍认识贷款人，属于私人借款，有借款字据，所借款项作其妻子经商用途，不存在因网上赌球才欠款的现象。还表示已请求上级部门迅速派员调查，以还清白。

　　清远市检察机关通报称，清远市委市政府高度重视凌子群涉嫌赌球欠款上百万的案件。接到举报之后，清远市纪委迅速会同清远市公安局开展调查，并核实凌子群涉嫌参与网络赌博，金额巨大。

　　2月17日，清远市委常委会研究决定，对涉嫌严重违纪违法行为的凌子群予以免职，免去其市林业局党组成员、市公安局森林分局局长职务，按有关程序办理。前天，清远市检察机关以涉嫌“徇私枉法罪、受贿罪”对其立案侦查，并依法对凌子群刑事拘留。

　　目前，该案还在进一步侦查中。
