除了高端机型，三星电子也在印度和巴西等新兴市场销售低端产品。
分析师根据市场研究机构IDC的数据推算，三星电子在今年第一季度的智能手机出货量达到9000万台，较上年同期的7070万台增长了27%。三星电子方面并未披露这方面的数据。
另一个令三星电子头疼的问题是与苹果的第二次专利诉讼战。苹果状告三星电子侵犯相关专利权，索赔20亿美元。分析师提醒三星电子需做好准备，以应对讼诉成本和潜在损失。
受市场供应紧张的影响，三星电子的芯片业务在今年第一季度表现抢眼，其营业利润从上年同期的1.07万亿韩元，增长至目前的1.95万亿韩元，几乎实现翻番。由于移动部门在今年实现增长难以期待，三星电子寄希望于芯片业务。一些分析师预计，到今年第四季度，芯片业务在三星电子营业利润的比重将从目前的23%增长至25%。
此外，由于全球需求疲软，三星电子平板显示业务（面板、显示器等）在今年第一季度出现800亿韩元的亏损，而上年同期为盈利7700亿韩元。对于这一业务的亏损，三星电子则表示，在华工厂建设导致成本增长也是原因之一。
