Sony said Friday that a formal agreement has been reached, will sell shares to Vaio PC business 95% Japan Industrial Partners Investment Fund. The deal is part of Sony's restructuring plan, which is expected to be completed by July 1.
Under the agreement, Sony Japan's PC business, including the Vaio brand and related assets to be transferred by Japan Industrial Partners invested in a specialist company Vaio Corp. The company's registered capital of 1 billion yen, Japan Industrial Partners and Sony will each hold shares in the company of 95% and 5%.
Sony announced on February 6, new product was released in the spring of 2014, PC products sold in all countries in the world to stop. After you exit the PC business, Sony will continue to provide after-sales service to the user.
Sony also announced Thursday, because of the sale of the PC business, will be credited to the additional cost of 30 billion yen, and disc manufacturing operations overseas will also be 25 billion yen of asset writedowns. Sony now expects in the year to the end of March this year, there will be 130 billion yen (about US $ 1.27 billion) net loss, higher than previously forecast 110 billion yen.
Sony announced on May 14, the previous performance this fiscal year and fiscal-year earnings forecast.
