　　最起眼的一幢别墅建在村外的马路边，占地至少300平方米，高达5层，造型似宫殿，外墙精美的瓷砖熠熠生辉。听人介绍说，这别墅耗时4年，内部装修也很豪华，总耗资近百万元。而最让人吃惊的是，别墅的主人并非大老板，而是在外地辛苦开早餐店的中年夫妇，租住在地下室，每天省吃俭用为的就是让别墅奢华再奢华一点。

　　还有一小洋房，建好已两年，主人只回来住过一次，小偷却已光顾过几回。村里流传的说法是，为了盖楼，屋主借了很多钱，如今在外没日没夜地赚钱还债。

　　为何大家争建别墅，即使自己一年住不了几天，即使要负债累累？答案很简单，“面子文化”使然。有的邻居间“明争暗斗”，“我的楼比你的楼高一层，人就高你一等”，有的兄弟之间较劲，“我的房子比你大就显得比你有本事”。房子的高矮大小和装修豪华程度，在农村俨然就是一张面子名片，一些人宁可天天咸菜白饭，也要勒紧裤腰带把房子造好看一点。

　　农村经济环境变好，农民生活水平提高当然值得高兴，然而这种基于攀比心理而疯狂盖房的做法实在是可笑又可怜。经济压力不说，还造成土地、建材等资源的巨大浪费。显而易见，很多农村为了盖房侵占了大片的良田。

　　更重要的是，这种做法显露出部分农民精神层面上的某种畸形。而事实上，类似的畸形还真不少，如结婚摆酒要比场面，不摆它三天流水席不罢休，亲人出殡也要讲排场，非得凑上几百个花圈甚至请上几支乐队送葬来彰显“孝心”。

　　鲁迅早在八十年前就发文分析了国人“爱面子”的现象，而今“爱面子”这一略带中国特色的情结似乎还顽固地捆绑着部分国人的内心。反对铺张浪费，提倡勤俭节约正是当下国家大力弘扬的，但愿这样的理念能在农村掀起一场精神上的大扫除。
