As early eBook player, Sony is going nowhere, kicked up late set, because the content eco backward, business falters, Sony has recently announced the closure of the eBook business to sell, to sell to Canada Kobo electronic reader manufacturer company. 作为电子书的早期玩家，索尼起大早却赶了晚集，由于内容生态落后，业务难以为继，索尼日前宣布关闭电子书业务卖，将其出售给加拿大电子阅读器制造商Kobo公司。据科技媒体engadget报道，索尼正在进行业务移交，并宣布在英国，奥地利和德国，Kobo应用程序将被预装在索尼的Xperia智能手机和Reader设备上。世界各地的索尼电子书商店Reader Store也将陆续关闭。

2004年，索尼推出全球首款采用“e-ink”显示器的批量生产电子阅读器，开启了电子书时代。

2007年，亚马逊推出了Kindle电子书，并凭借其强大的内容生态迅速超越索尼。近期，索尼还砍掉了VIAO个人电脑业务，为摆脱亏损不断瘦身。
