美国旧金山一家名为Artemis的创业公司表示,已创造了能将人们带到无线宽带新纪元的技术。Artemis CEO史蒂夫·帕尔曼指出,该公司的pCell网络,下载速度是目前4G网络的1000倍以上。

这一技术也引起了电信产业人的兴趣。上月,Business Insider网站在FCC文件中发现显示,Dish Network在海湾地区为Artemis提供频谱支持,并将在今年晚些时候进行测试部署。

现在,很多移动运营商正考虑在自己的网络上推出pCell技术。

问题的关键在于,随着时间的推移,声音传输在蜂窝网络中的重要性已经越来越低。手机通话不再重要,传统蜂窝网络无法提供一致的服务,才是更大的问题。

无线运营商也承认,他们不得不面对这些问题,而且他们没有太多的选择。

Artemis声称,全球半数移动运营商(按营收计算)已经与该公司进行接洽,并讨论pCell技术。

移动运营商对Artemis技术感兴趣也很正常:他们能够使用相同的基站、同样的基础设施,不需要花上什么时间,就可以为数以百万计的LTE用户提供更好的服务。
