除了在建交40周年之际谋划双边关系提升，在菲律宾、越南等国持续炒作南海问题、马航MH370客机搜寻至今未果的背景下，受访专家表示，共同关心的国际和地区问题亦是纳吉布此次中国之行将讨论的议题。
“相比于菲律宾、越南在南海问题上不断向中国挑衅，马来西亚在处理南海问题上比较低调、谨慎，希望跟中国进行沟通和磋商来管控争端，防止问题扩大化。”中国国际问题研究所副所长阮宗泽向中新网记者分析。
对于此次中马领导人会晤可能涉及的南海问题，周刚表示，在南海问题方面，中方还是会强调通过和平方式和双边谈判途径解决，“对于马来西亚来说，就是不要与菲、越‘抱团’，不要单方面采取不利于问题解决的措施。”(完)
