内部人士透露,这款产品的推出获得了微软全球执行副总裁陆奇的肯定,也是微软Bing搜索对中国区放权本地化之后的首个产品。

出世幕后

“小冰”本质上就是一个可以聊天的机器人,从产品功能上看,并不算新颖。但让整个Bing搜索中国团队兴奋的是,这个产品的研发打破了微软很多既有的规则。

微软互联网工程院品牌及产品市场负责人李笛介绍,“小冰”的诞生源于2013年底他与团队关于“Bing网典”前端表现形式的一次头脑风暴,经过激烈讨论,最终确定以聊天机器人的形式作为产品的最终形态。

网典是Bing推出的一个百科全书式的知识集合搜索产品,将无数信息进行结构化整理之后,可以给聊天机器人的想法提供了基本支撑,让“微软小冰”的回答数量达到了1500万句,并可以不断增长。

在确定了聊天机器人的方向后,一个十多人组成代号“社交助手”的新项目组在微软互联网工程院诞生,大家开始抓紧研发。

2014年1月,微软全球执行副总裁陆奇见到了最早期的“小冰”产品,对于项目的方向给予了肯定,认定了“小冰”在中国区将和微软在全球推出的语音助手Cortana一样作为Bing内容的前端展现方式。

4月份,陆奇在看到“小冰”整个实际的运作过程之后,正式拍板立项,产品进入封闭开发状态。5月29日,“小冰”正式发布,整个项目时间不到半年。

本地化样本

用半年的时间做出一个产品,在微软内部看来,确实有点不可思议。按照微软过去的习惯,一个产品从设计到最终发布可能需要30-36个月的时间,而“小冰”的开发只用了6个月。同时,对于这款产品,陆奇不但亲自对团队给予指导,还大胆让Bing中国团队进行尝试,不断试错。

这一切的背后正是因为微软正对Bing中国的策略进行大幅调整。以往,Bing的产品研发都会以美国为先,然后推广到全球其他市场。但调整后的策略是,必应未来会强调“中国为先”。

陆奇此前在公司内部表示,微软和必应是抱着一种学习的态度进军中国移动互联市场的,中国将作为必应在移动互联领域的新特区。在中国,必应也将加大本地创新与市场开发力度,给用户带来更接地气的产品。无疑,“小冰”就是这样一款本地化的产品。

实际上,除了中国团队推出的“小冰”外,微软还在全球推出了语音助手Cortana。这两款产品,在功能上有一定的重合性。但是,为何微软会支持中国团队推出“小冰”?

“小冰”项目首席开发总监景鲲表示,WP系统的语音助手Cortana和“小冰”都是根植于Bing搜索的大数据基础之上,Cortana在WP系统上建立自己的生态系统,而“小冰”则是以低姿态进去其他公司的生态系统提供服务。他说:如果从扎根中国本地市场的角度来看,“小冰”在中国的重要度甚至高于此前的微软语音助手Cortana。

据悉,为了更好的用户体验,“小冰”在聊天中大部分情况都不会发出跳转链接,这也意味着“小冰”难以进行搜索倒流。“小冰”团队成员表示,对微软来讲,“小冰”是一个很大的用户群的接触和数据的来源,更大的价值是优化必应的数据结构和接触用户。
