在国内热议银行机构对IBM服务器的依赖是否威胁安全之际，中国服务器生产商浪潮集团发起了吸引IBM客户的行动。有报道称，浪潮在济南首次公布一项名为“I2I计划”（IBM to Inspur）的计划，目标是全面接管IBM X业务。
尽管分析人士认为，银行业高端服务器选择余地不大，很难找到替代产品。但有消息称，中国邮政储蓄银行去年3月已开始试点使用浪潮制造的国产服务器产品。
浪潮称，从去年开始，浪潮在金融等行业替换部分IBM服务器及相关设施。包括中国建设银行、邮政储蓄银行在内的多家国有银行储蓄所已经试点使用浪潮制造的国产服务器。
浪潮高管称，自家服务器和小型机产品已经具备了全面接替IBM产品的能力。而在人才储备方面，浪潮就已经从IBM等国外服务器厂商中招募了大量专业人员。
同时坊间有消息称，今年IBM大批员工离职。对上述消息IBM对此暂时不做评论。
IBM业绩已经连续8个季度下滑，去年底IBM一度将业绩下滑原因归结为中国市场疲软。国外媒体将微软、IBM、思科中国业绩不断下滑均归结为受“棱镜事件”影响。
但浪潮若要推翻IBM在中国的地位也非易事。该公司2011年收入367亿元人民币（59亿美元），只有IBM当年收入的5.5%。
