曾在多家公司兼职
自2003年起担任过学生处处长、招生就业处处长等职务，并在人民大学担任人大本科“招委会”副主任的蔡荣生，走上了舆论风口浪尖，也牵出对高校招生制度的反思。

中央巡视组查出招生方面问题

曾因办假护照出逃被查
去年11月，蔡荣生持假护照在深圳闯关被抓的消息一时在互联网微博上传得沸沸扬扬。这条求证语气的微博消息称，蔡荣生持假护照欲闯关赴加拿大，并称蔡交代的招生等问题金额达数亿元，且出逃前曾留书反映领导问题。
后来该微博被博主删除。第二天，人大方面确认，蔡荣生正在接受相关方面的调查：“招生就业处新处长上周已任命并开始主持工作，其他信息待核实。”不久后，在教育部的例行新闻发布会上，教育部也进一步证实了蔡荣生被调查一事。
实际上，早在同月24日，有关蔡荣生闯关被抓的消息已在某社交平台出现。据《中国青年报》报道，蔡荣生是在陕西办理的闯关用的假护照，护照是其本人照片，但身份信息不属实。事后，人大要求副处级以上干部上交护照，而一位知情人士表示，人大反腐近期很可能会有新的动作。 文/记者温如军
人大聘任10名招生监督员
去年12月份，以清华大学牵头的自主招生“华约”联盟发布了2014年招生的联合公告。不过，从2011年起即加入“华约”的中国人民大学，未出现在公告名单中，“华约”7校联盟随之缩减为6校。
随后，人大招办回复本报记者称，人大决定2014年自主选拔录取招生暂缓一年。
2014年4月8日，人大公布“圆梦计划”2014年招生规模将至少扩招50%，在“圆梦计划”选拔录取过程中该校拓宽渠道、扩大试点、提供资助，保障农村学生入学机会公平；并严格程序、加强管理，确保选拔录取过程公正和多级公示、及时公开，接受社会广泛监督。
中学公开选拔学生也需在校内公示。学校纪委、监察处全程监督选拔录取过程。测试和录取期间中国人民大学将公布举报电话，接受社会监督。
2014年4月20日，在人大校园开放日当天，人大招生办主任李向前称，今年该校本科生在京招生计划与往年持平。至于该校明年是否会恢复自主招生，李向前表示，目前暂不确定。
今天上午，就明年该校是否恢复自主招生一事，该校并未给予确切的答复。
2014年4月22日，人大对外公布，该校正式聘任首届10名本科生招生社会监督员，本科生招生社会监督工作委员会同时组建并召开第1次工作会议。 文/记者张丽

中国人民大学的自主招生计划显示，2011年规定“选拔时重点向素质教育开展好、新课程改革推进快和采取考前填报自主选拔录取志愿的省份适当倾斜”。
分析人士指出，在自主招生过程中，存在大量的“寻租逐利”空间。
蔡荣生其人
公开资料显示，1987年蔡荣生本科毕业于清华大学机械工程系，后在中国人民大学贸易经济系获得经济学硕士学位。
2012年7月，蔡荣生被评为“全国就业先进工作者”，在那一次表彰大会上，教育部仅评选了5名直属高校获奖者。
在中国人民大学学习和工作期间，蔡荣生还曾发表多篇论文并获奖。
有媒体报道称，早在2006年，蔡荣生就开始涉足资本市场。仅从公开的信息来看，蔡荣生就曾经拥有大唐高鸿数据网络技术股份有限公司等7家公司的“独董”头衔。其中高鸿股份、龙江交通和东华软件均为上市公司。
