最近主打模块化概念的开源笔记本电脑Novena在CROWDSUPPLY上众筹成功，共计获得约72万美元的支持，远超最初设定的目标（25万美金）。

从介绍来看，这款模块化开源笔记本最大的好处就是可以更大限度地更换硬件组件，甚至把里面的硬件设计、固件都开源，这是普通笔记本无法比拟的。

对于注重数据安全的人来说，“开源”的笔记本的确可以让他们更加安心地使用。不过Novena的弱点也非常明显——要比一般的笔记本笨重很多。

笔记本的发明初衷是什么？如果要你出差的时候拖着一台笨重的PC到处跑，你乐意吗？笔记本的存在，也许更多是顾及到经常外出奔波的人士，让他们少受罪一些。如果这个假设成立的话，笔记本就应该追求性能的同时也要顾及到便携性。

得益于集成技术的发展，现在的笔记本关键器件都是集成到主板上的，比如CPU、图形处理器等。集成度越高，它就做得越轻薄。

模块化路线虽然可以让笔记本更具备个性定制化特点，但是牺牲了“高集成”这个特性，也是Novena如此笨重的主要原因。

早些时候笔者在TechSpace上问过“空气果”项目的负责人姜洋，为什么他们的产品不采用模块化的方式，让不同地区的人根据地域环境的实际情况来挑选需要的传感器。他的回答是：这样做的话，需要在设计结构上做出很多妥协，他们还是想先打造一款精致的硬件产品。

从众筹的反馈来看，像Novena这样的模块化开源笔记本是有需求的，也许更多的是针对极客用户。但是对于大众来说，也许它并不合适。现在回头想想，Google的模块化手机是否也会遇到类似的窘境？
