I think, now, is ushering in a new generation of overseas Chinese studies, or third-generation. Third generation originated in the context of new situation for Chinese studies, research methods and orientation are different. The first generation of modern Chinese studies, dating back to the early 20th century, represented by the distinguished scholars such as Jonathan Spence, Vogel. China's second generation, started in 1989, was born in the post-cold war era of ideological fanaticism. Another trend can be called the empirical, namely basic research methods to gather objective data, objective analysis of China's governance model. This school, many of them are world renowned scholars, such as fulanxisi·Fushan political science, Nicholas Lardy, economic studies, says the study of international relations. More noteworthy is that many of the younger generation of scholars in this school.
In my opinion, follow closely the empirical research on governance, focusing on specific issues, supported by actual data, in response to objective knowledge of the world that Chinese demand, it also provides a reference for national governance. Empirical research on the rise of marked the academia is an ideological debate turned pragmatic analysis, development prospects are very bright.
A new generation of Chinese studies attracted the world's most outstanding academic excellence. Second, many countries around the world, including the United States and the European Union countries and many developing countries, is experiencing an unprecedented political governance dilemmas. We are at the beginning of a new era. Ideology in command of the fog dispersed. Think the "ideology" of the era, improve the capacity to govern and to find effective solutions, as the core tasks of the various political parties. All the academics are looking for solutions to save ourselves from the reality of fire and water.
Social scientists, almost every new generation of scholars in the field, are aware of the importance of China today. They are already aware of, no in-depth study of China's case, it is impossible to fully understand and interpret the contemporary world of political governance. Now they gradually discover, to in-depth study of Chinese governance, does not understand the Chinese Communists, cannot really figure out. This era requires both sides to meet each other halfway. CCP needs to further open up, academics need to devote more serious scholars. Lots of work to do, but it does not take too long, went through two intergenerational after school, in the hands of the third generation of scholars, we are expected to create a whole new system of knowledge, contribute to political governance research in the world. CPC is expected to dramatically change the world's perception, and rewriting Chinese stories of the contemporary world.
Perhaps, to the moment we look back today, will find that today is the beginning of harvest time.
