　　三沙市早在2014年5月就着手制作七连屿中的北岛、中岛、南岛三岛连接设计方案，解决岛礁之间的交通问题。

　　七连屿是一个大礁盘，包括两个相对分离的板块：西块为赵述岛─西沙洲板块，东块为北岛─南沙洲板块，中间是赵述门。礁盘大而很有发展前途，可以较大规模填海造陆的是西块。

　　萧杰表示，西沙部分地区开辟邮轮旅游两年多来共有2万馀人参与，未来将使邮轮旅游逐步在西沙群岛常态化，即在保护环境的基础上拓展旅游范围并且增加航线，根据岛礁基础设施、地接管理情况，研究将旅游从永乐群岛拓展至七连屿，同时开发更多旅游产品，带动岛礁的开发建设。
