最近,我才从金山老将的口述中得知,我的评价当时演变成了另一个版本,更让雷军受伤。说我的评论词是:“雷军触网,不在网中”。虽然,我已经记不起我说这句话的时间和场合,但是,我也可以坦然认下。因为,后来雷军很快开始做卓越,在电子商务里面冲杀,但是,我始终没有给予太高的评价。那时候我是亚马逊的忠实用户,专注于买卖产品的卓越与我天天浏览的亚马逊一比,实在没有什么亮点。“雷军触网,不在网中”与“雷军栽花,不是花”属于异曲同工,真实代表了我那时候的观点。

超越求伯君,超越杨元庆,甚至超越柳传志,现在想想当年雷军的追求,自己实在有点燕雀看鸿鹄,看低雷军了。这么多年来,我们彼此保持关注,隔一两年吃顿饭,或者去他办公室坐坐,彼此很客气,但是始终没有回到最初的亲密。

雷军和周鸿祎两位湖北人相爱相杀,其实差异巨大。但是,最大的共同点就是都极度渴望被关注和被认同。小米有个挺有意思的理念,那就是除了“产品皆媒体”,每一个员工皆媒体。雷军无疑就是小米的第一媒体。周鸿祎当然也不自觉地在实践着这个理念。所以,如果说他们两人又上头条了,你不用惊诧,那只是给他们自己又出版了新一期的内容而已。当然,两人渴望被关注的内在动因不尽相同。周鸿祎的渴望是因为严重缺乏安全感。就像一个如何出彩都得不到父亲认同的孩子,必须寻求一次次优异表现来躲避和免除父亲的下一顿暴打。在一次次过度的自我反应和激发中,缓解和释放内心的担忧,找到新的短暂的平衡点。而雷军则是典型的“长子心态”,通过自己一次次的出色表现和进步,希望维持模范和榜样级的形象,得到父亲下一次的赞赏。两者都有着西西弗斯般的色彩,只是一个始终是通过调皮捣蛋博得关注的坏孩子形象,一个始终是中规中矩、慎言慎行三好学生般的长子形象。两者都始终过得不轻松,对自己从来没有片刻的放松。没有如此年复一年日复一日的“修炼”,他们就不可能达到今天的高度。今天所有想简单轻松就成功的创业者,都是白日梦。

今天小米发展面临真正的挑战,我们无法改变余承东的脱颖而出,但是,我们至少可以回头分析一下,过去哪些方面雷军本来可以做得更精彩,复盘一下雷军在前几年究竟错失了什么。现在看来,至少雷军犯下了四大错误:

一、首先就是雷军在上市问题上的自我束缚。不上市的承诺成了自己的紧箍咒。如果小米在2014年最火爆的时候上市(精明独到的马云分别在2007年和2014年两次把准了自己小环境和外部大环境的最佳上市节点),基本可以一举融资百亿美元级的资金,在今天智能手机竞争进入白热化的红海阶段,金钱是最方便地换取时间的手段。有这笔超级资金作为燃料,足以让小米的列车在今天依然继续保持更快的速度,顺利跨越3亿活跃用户的鸿沟。所以在魄力和胆识方面,雷军终究还是欠缺了一点像马云那样敢于捅破天的奋力一击。错失了曾经搁在眼前的可遇不可求的大好机会。

其次,全球化布局。既然是完全基于网络空间的商业模式,在全球化方面有着得天独厚的优势,不需要像华为那样经历无数年的挺进而深入。如果雷军视野再开阔点,小米的全球化战略应该创业起步阶段就作为最重要的战略重点之一。至少在2013年就应该大刀阔斧走出去。如果再有激进的资本运作,有上市后百亿级美元作为全球化的弹药,那么今天小米如果在欧美、印度和其他国家完成全面部署,使得今天收入有一半来自于国外(或者至少三分之一),那么,今天国内市场再惨烈,小米也可以非常从容坦然。

三是多元化举措。雷军在金山没有大成功,一方面与选择的战略方向有关,也与杂乱的多元化有关。如果非要总结出一点雷军做小米的最大蜕变,毫无疑问,就是他从金山时期的极度多元化一下子进入到极度的专注。而今天小米的打法仿佛又让人看到了金山时候的雷军。多元化破坏了小米的聚焦的战略定性,打乱了非常难得的整体感,一言以蔽之,就是多元化让整个局乱了。就像今天的周鸿祎,虽然惯性依旧,体量依然庞大,但是因为头绪过多,使得章法凌乱。需要重新聚焦主攻方向和核心竞争力,周鸿祎才能重新找回他独特市场的杀伤力。类似地,各种压力之下,雷军也有点迷失在自己编织的“星辰大海”庞大的生态梦想中,这无疑是他最大的危险。

四是激进的清场思维。业界流传小米人一句很经典的话:“我们不是来竞争的,我们是来清场的”。低价战略的确是最具杀伤力,也是见效最快的方式。小米推出的各种产品,都是期望一手灭掉传统领域的所有玩家,另一手还想封杀互联网领域的竞争对手。如果低价战略如此简单有效,那么今天全球的商业生态就不可能健康发展。价格并不是满足和取悦用户最重要的因素。

有些错误犯了就再也没有第二次机会,而有些错误依然可以再度重来。有些学费再昂贵,也是必须付的。小米发展到今天,不至于像批评者所描绘的那样悲观。只要回到最初帮助自己走向成功的核心上,回到雷军开创的引领这个时代的网络空间思维的轨道上,慢下来的小米依然是可以抵达自己想象不到的新高度。只是因为走了弯路而晚点而已。

总之,互联网领域的成功充满了偶然,充满了各种遗憾,但是成功却从来不是轻轻松松。
