据介绍，水痘是由水痘带状疱疹病毒引起的急性传染病。水痘病人是唯一的传染源，主要经呼吸道飞沫和直接接触水痘疱疹液传播。
水痘潜伏期一般为12至21天，初期会出现发热、全身不适、乏力、食欲减退、咽痛等症状；持续1至2天后进入出疹期。皮疹首先出现在头部和躯干，逐渐波及四肢，剧烈瘙痒。初为红色斑疹、后变为丘疹并发展为疱疹，疱疹后1至2天，疱疹从中心开始干枯结痂，周围皮肤红晕消失，再经数日痂皮脱落。同一部位常可见斑丘疹、水疱、结痂同时存在。如不出现并发症，可在2周左右自愈。
