　　位于东南极的格罗夫山地区是一个陨石富集区。中国自第15次南极考察(1998年至1999年)以来，先后在格罗夫山地区开展了7次内陆考察，经过多年积累，包括本次收集到的陨石在内，共收集到南极陨石12665块，是除美国和日本之外世界第三大南极陨石拥有国。

　　据格罗夫山陨石收集项目现场执行人陈宏毅介绍，本次南极科考格罗夫山队共安排陨石收集5天，实际工作时间累积43小时，主要采用人工徒 步行走和肉眼识别的方式收集。通过现场初步分类，确定收集到的630块陨石中可能包括橄辉无球粒陨石、玄武岩质无球粒陨石、橄榄陨铁、3型普通球粒陨石和 碳质球粒陨石等特殊类型陨石约10块。同时，还首次通过多旋翼无人机航拍方式，观测冰流方向、探路和寻找碎石带分布区，为陨石寻找工作提供参考。

　　陈宏毅表示，格罗夫山陨石数量虽大，但质量和特殊珍贵类型陨石数量都还不够高，为了进一步提高中国陨石收集的成果，有必要在格罗夫山地区开展针对性的陨石富集规律研究，寻找新的陨石富集区和采用新的搜寻方式。
