博鳌亚洲论坛2016年年会主题为“亚洲新未来：新活力与新愿景”。新未来、新活力、新愿景，是今年年会主题的三大关键词。
新未来，既是对过去两届年会主题词的延续，在全球经济发生深刻变化的大背景下又具有新的含义。当前亚洲和新兴经济体发展的内外环境都有了质的变化，发展理念和模式面临严峻考验。亚洲下一步如何改革，未来的发展方向怎样，为世界所关注。
当前世界经济复苏乏力，贸易作为全球增长的高速引擎，跌至全球经济增速的一半。受油价低迷影响，一度欣欣向荣的新能源产业也前景黯淡。世界经济需要注入新的活力，培育新的增长点，全球经济和金融治理也需要新的气象。年会主题以“新活力”“新愿景”为关键词，希望通过2000多位亚洲政商学界领袖的思想碰撞，为亚洲的新未来凝聚共识、探索方向、寻找解决方案。

博鳌亚洲论坛2016年年会拟设置88场讨论，包括1场开幕大会、51场分论坛、15场圆桌会议、5场主题餐会、10场对话创业者和6场电视辩论。论坛共邀请了300多位演讲嘉宾，与1700多位代表进行为期四天互动式讨论。
国务院总理李克强和域内外10多个国家的领导人出席年会，他们共同出席的开幕大会，将是年会的重中之重。
50多场分论坛和电视辩论，涉及创业创新，“互联网+”，宏观经济新现象、新问题，经济、社会与民生热点和全球重大事件。
在今年论坛年会上，人工智能、“互联网+”与“+互联网”相关热点议题占相当比例。此外，在中国经济进入新常态的背景下，中国“十三五”规划、供给侧结构性改革也将成为多场讨论的重点。
