One of Sun Yat-sen University will become an international research center of gravitational-wave detection

Gravitational wave detection "Lyran plan" is an international cooperation project, designed by Chinese scientists, has gathered the best scientists and research teams in the world, joint space research on gravitational-wave detection. At present, the Sun Yat-sen University "Lyran Research Center" is "gravity theory and experiment analysis of" "satellite platforms and control" and "precision optical measurements and remote sensing" aspects of the formation of research teams.


Industry analysts said, with the "Lyran plan" progress in infrastructure construction and related research work, Sun Yat-sen University will become the international gravitational wave detection and space one center of academic research in the field of precision measurement, precision measurement and follow up a series of space physics experiments and other scientific research.


It is understood that the gravitational-wave detectors "Lyran scheme" research platform of the main infrastructure will be built in Zhuhai campus of Sun Yat-sen University. Overall in two stages, the construction project included 30,000 square meters of research building, 10,000 square meters of cave statically laboratories, Phoenix mountain top 5000 square meters of research, education and popular science in one multi-functional observation stations. In addition, Sun Yat-sen University will meet the needs of socio-economic development of Zhuhai city, the Zhuhai campus as "Thirteen-Five" during the focus of school construction, launch major science and technology innovation platform construction, promoting science and technology innovation ability of Zhuhai campus of Zhongshan University.

  中山大学将成为国际引力波探测研究重镇之一


  广州日报讯 (记者徐静 通讯员蔡珊珊、刘嘉)作为中国基础科学抢占国际空间研究制高点的标志——中国引力波探测“天琴计划”20日在中山大学珠海校区启动基础设施工程建设奠基仪式。


  今年2月,美国激光干涉引力波天文台(LIGO)宣布人类首次直接探测到引力波,有关专家预测,引力波探测研究将拉开新一轮全球太空竞争的序幕,更是大国科技实力的“大比拼”。


  引力波探测“天琴计划”是一个由中国科学家主导的国际合作项目,集聚了全世界最优秀的科学家和科研团队,共同开展空间引力波探测研究。目前,中山大学“天琴研究中心”正在“引力理论与实验分析”“卫星平台与控制”“精密光学测量与遥感”等方面组建大科研团队。


  业内分析人士称,随着“天琴计划”基础设施工程建设以及相关科研工作的进展,中山大学将成为国际引力波探测与空间精密测量领域的学术研究重镇之一,并推动后续一系列空间精密测量物理实验等科学研究。


  据了解,引力波探测“天琴计划”科研平台的主要基础设施将在中山大学珠海校区进行建设。总体分两期进行,建设项目包含3万平方米的科研综合楼、1万平方米的山洞超静实验室、凤凰山顶5000平方米的集科研、教学、科普于一体的多功能观测台站等。此外,中山大学将配合珠海市经济社会发展的需要,将珠海校区作为“十三五”期间学校投入建设的重点,启动重大科技创新平台建设、全面提升中山大学珠海校区科技创新能力。
