中山大学、珠海市政府20日在中山大学珠海校区联合启动“天琴计划”基础设施工程建设。当日的奠基仪式是在“天琴计划”主要基础设施所在地——中山大学珠海校区沕水湖畔举行,这里将是通向“天琴计划”凤凰山顶天文台上山公路起点。

“天琴计划”是由中山大学牵头的中国空间引力波探测工程。“天琴”将由三颗全同卫星(SC1,SC2,SC3)组成一个等边三角形阵列,三颗卫星互相之间用激光进行联系,与地球一块绕太阳运行。它将探测一个距离地球16000光年、周期仅有5.4分钟的超紧凑双白矮星系统所产生的引力波。

根据此前的计划,“天琴计划”的基础设施大部分将位于珠海市的中山大学珠海校区。总体将分两期进行,本次仪式是第一期工程开工奠基,建设项目包含30000平方米的科研综合楼、10000平方米的山洞超静实验室、凤凰山顶5000平方米的集科研、教学、科普于一体的多功能观测台站,以及上山公路等。

中山大学校长、中国科学院院士、“天琴计划”牵头人罗俊介绍,目前,中山大学天琴研究中心正在“引力理论与实验分析”、“卫星平台与控制”、“精密光学测量与遥感”、“地月系统物理实验”等方面组建大科研团队。

他表示,“天琴计划”在充分分析国际国内形势的基础上,制定了切合中国实际的发展规划来开展空间引力波探测研究。这是一个可以由中国科学家主导的国际合作项目,可以集聚全世界最优秀的科学家朝着同一个目标努力;“天琴计划”的推动也将使中山大学成为国际上引力波探测与空间精密测量领域的学术研究重镇之一。
