利得博士还指出,首次关于“OK”的文字记录是在1839年3月23日的一份《波士顿晨报》上,行文摘录如下:“作为报人的他……将拥有一个‘奉献专栏’,等等,完全正确(原文为:O.K.—all correct),他将使火花塞飞起、发出火花,直冲霄汉。”同年7月,“OK”一词已流传到美国的南方,传到纽约,并很快得到公众的接受。
