转基因的安全性几乎成了“说几遍都不嫌多”的话题。但无论主观是否愿意，完全绕开转基因食品正成为越来越难的事情。农业部转基因生物安全管理办公室副处长张宪法首先澄清，并不是所有含有转基因成分的食品都叫“转基因食品”。
张宪法表示，转基因食品不是无限的。以玉米为例，玉米生产出来之后，玉米粒、玉米籽、玉米面、玉米粉这些都叫转基因食品，但是再往下走，用玉米喂的猪是不是叫转基因猪，这就不是了。转基因大豆生产的油叫转基因大豆油，但是用转基因大豆油炸的油条就不是转基因油条，所以转基因食品的概念是有界限的。
