UWP的理念十分简单,目的也十分美好,开发者通过一次编写应用即可运行在包括PC、平板、手机、Xbox、HoloLens在内的所有微软设备上。其实微软起初的目的在于通过通用平台编程方式引流有着庞大基数的优秀PC开发者来帮助构建手机生态,但得到的结果却是UWP版应用往往先出现在PC上,而手机端的程序则迟迟得不到更新。这说明了一个千古不变的道理——理想是美好的,现实是残酷的。尽管UWP可以运行在相同内核的操作系统上,但不同设备其终端形态、硬件组成大相径庭,通用的标准难以做出通用的程序,这是该计划所面临的最大障碍。
但是后来形势发生了变化,在Surface系列产品的号召下,平板笔记本2in1设备的意外兴起让微软看到了希望。2in1设备在终端形态上与传统PC有着相似的适配性,同时又具备了良好的触屏平板的功能延展,加之华为、联想、小米、华硕等厂商的陆续跟进,这样一款终端设备的崛起让UWP瞬间有了用武之地,也为微软率先打通PC与平板端带来了契机。

近期业界有观点建议微软放弃即将消失的手机份额,我们认为此举大谬,放弃Windows手机意味着移动之役提前战败,不仅损害投资者信心,还将重挫组织士气,对其他已建立优势的产品(比如Surface)亦将遭到负面影响。微软应该在组织资源宽裕的前提下保证Windows手机的研发与更新,尽管未来安卓与iPhone格局不会有大的变数,但好的产品素来不缺乏用户,在红海之下亦能细水长流。
