Chinese scientists have for the first time the molecular energy transfer between "taking pictures"

The study to provide in-depth understanding of Intermolecular energy transfer with unprecedented spatial information, but also for the development of efficient light-harvesting structures and quantum entanglement of light provides a new way of thinking.
The reviewer in the journal nature says, "this work opens up new ways for studying molecular interactions", "for many fields--from basic research on the interactions between molecules to light-harvesting system and practical applications such as quantum optics, have broad implications and significance. ”

中国科学家首次为分子间能量传递“拍照”

  中新社合肥3月31日电  (记者 吴兰)记者31日从中国科大获悉,该校科研人员在国际上首次实现分子间相干偶极耦合的成像观察,即为分子间能量传递“拍照”。

  31日,国际权威学术期刊《自然》杂志发表了这项成果,并在“新闻与观点”栏目中以“耦合分子的特写镜头”为题进行特别报道。

  人们直觉上通常认为,分子间的能量传递就像足球队员传球一样,由接受能量的分子传送给相邻的另一个分子,然后依次传递下去。但最新的一些实验表明,一份能量的注入,可能会引起相邻分子间有一定规律的联动,或者说相邻分子的偶极之间产生相干耦合。在此之前,科学界对分子偶极耦合的相干性的形式和特性一直缺乏直接的认识。

  中国科大单分子科学团队董振超介绍,分子间的能量传递是维系生命及其演化的重要方式,对了解自然界中光合作用的高效捕光机制具有非常重要的意义。

  这项研究为深入理解分子间能量传递提供了前所未有的空间信息,也为研制高效的捕光结构和量子纠缠光源提供了新的思路。

  《自然》杂志的审稿人认为,“这项工作开辟了研究分子间相互作用的新途径”,“对于许多研究领域——从分子间相互作用的基础研究到捕光体系和量子光学等实际应用,都具有广泛的影响和重要的意义。”
