综合西方及境外媒体的信息，这位倪姓北京妇女是中国政法大学和北京语言大学的“双学士”，有律师资格但后被“吊销律师执照”，三次入狱，在狱中遭“殴打致残”。她的主要“抗争事迹”是帮助北京市民对抗“政府强拆”，争取合法利益。
但据法律学者、网络名人吴法天的博客揭露，这位“倪律师”的双学士学历并不存在，吴援引法院的一项判决书说，倪是高中学历。她也从未有过律师执照，她的辩护律师曾在法庭强调，现在有一些虽无执照但帮人维权的人也被民间看做“律师”，倪属这种情况。

现在被拆迁户漫天要价更令社会头疼，倪女士继续高调搞“拆迁抗争”，美国国务院还为此给她颁奖，都与北京社会的利益背道而驰。
中国有很多为推动人权进步做出正面积极贡献的人，而美国和西方不厌其烦挑出的“榜样”都是倪女士这样专与政府和社会正常秩序对抗的人。如果不在中国蹲蹲监狱，或者至少被警方请去“喝几次茶”，他们上西方的人权榜都不好意思。
如果你是盲人，或者出门坐轮椅，加上反体制的激进态度，你上榜的概率就更高了。
