上游新闻记者注意到，杨茂林曾在山西省属七大煤炭集团中的山西焦煤集团公司担任重要职务，而早前落马的山西省煤炭工业厅厅长吴永平也曾是省属七大煤炭集团之一的大同煤矿集团公司的一把手。
据不完全统计，目前，在山西省属七大煤炭集团中，仅两家无主要领导落马。其余五家中，落马的现任或原任董事长或总经理达8人之多。
此外，在媒体描摹的山西煤炭系统图景中，一些煤炭集团与山西官场、商界的关系可谓横纵相连、千丝万缕，不少落马官员、涉案富商也曾与煤炭集团有密切往来。
山西七大煤炭集团5集团高管沦陷
在煤炭业内，通常将大同煤矿集团有限责任公司（下称“同煤集团”）、山西焦煤集团有限责任公司（下称“山西焦煤”）、晋能集团有限公司（下称“晋能 集团”）、山西潞安矿业（集团）有限责任公司（下称“潞安集团”）、山西晋城无烟煤矿业集团有限责任公司（下称“晋煤集团”）、山西阳泉煤业（集团）有限 责任公司（下称“阳煤集团”）和山西煤炭进出口集团有限公司（下称“山煤集团”）等7家以煤炭生产和销售为主业的公司，称为山西省属七大煤炭集团。
记者梳理山西省国有煤炭腐败案件发现，截至目前，山西省七大国有煤炭企业中，落马的官员多大几十位，其中仅阳煤集团、晋煤集团无主要领导落马。
其余五家中，落马的现任或原任董事长或总经理达8人之多，分别为白培中、杜建华、任润厚、刘建中、曹耀丰、吴永平、郭海、杨茂林。
山西焦煤董事长落马引发多米诺效应
山西系列腐败案的序幕，似乎是由4年前，两个窃贼无意扯开的。
2011年11月，时任山西焦煤集团有限责任公司（以下简称“焦煤集团”）董事长白培中家中被盗，其妻报案称被抢300万元。窃贼被抓获后却证实，被盗钱财物品总价值近5000万元。
有媒体报道称，警方指出得以迅速破案的原因在于“疑犯均认为白培中这些钱是贪污受贿来的，不敢报案，所以才在得手后公然开着抢来的奥迪车，连车牌都不换，逍遥而去，根本没有隐藏”。
2011年12月，白培中被免去山西焦煤集团有限责任公司董事长、党委书记职务。
而随着盗窃案的进一步调查，也牵出白培中违纪行为，经山西省纪委研究并报请批准，决定给予白培中留党察看一年处分。
据官方所谓的查明结果，被抢财物中，除白培中本人及家属合法收入及其妻子两次开颅手术期间亲友援赠款项外，有84万余元财物涉及违纪。其中，白培中 在担任山西焦煤集团董事长、党委书记期间，接受公务活动中馈赠贵重物品价值14.79万元，未按规定上交组织；白培中妻子收受其属下礼金共计70万元。不 管白培中是否知情，都严重违反了领导干部廉洁自律有关规定，构成违纪。
之后，被免职的白培中牵扯出了涉嫌包庇他的山西省委原副书记、纪委书记金道铭。后者的落马，又拉下山西焦煤国际贸易公司原董事长胡建伟、山西煤炭运销集团原副总经理姚海平、山西省纪委原常务副书记杨森林和晋中市委原副书记张秀萍。
而在金道铭其被调查后半年内，山西省原副省长杜善学、太原市委原书记陈川平、省委原秘书长聂春玉、省委统战部原部长白云4位省委常委，以及省政协原副主席令政策、原副省长任润厚共计6位省级领导，均涉嫌严重违纪违法，相继被带走。
而今年3月31日，中纪委发布消息称，山西省煤炭工业厅党组成员、副厅长杨茂林涉嫌严重违纪，目前正接受组织调查。
公开资料显示，杨茂林曾任山西焦煤集团公司董事、山西焦煤汾西矿业集团公司董事长、总经理。
山煤集团两任董事长均落马
2015年10月26日中午，山煤国际在其官网发布消息称，10月25日上午，“集团召开党政联席会议，会议由集团总经理苏清政主持。省国资委企业 领导人员管理处处长彭柏青宣读了省国资委党委的有关决定：因工作需要，免去郭海同志山西煤炭进出口集团董事长、党委书记职务，由省国资委副主任、党委委员 刘峰同志临时主持山西煤炭进出口集团全面工作”。
有媒体报道称，郭海落马或由大同煤矿集团有限责任公司（以下简称“同煤集团”）原董事长、山西省煤炭工业厅前厅长吴永平腐败案牵出。
在郭海之前，任山煤集团董事长、党委书记的杜建华也已落马。
有媒体报道称，杜建华因卷入山西女商人丁书苗腐败大案被查。而纵观丁书苗的发家史，亦涉足煤炭行业颇深。
同煤集团昔日董事长落马
2014年12月12日，据山西省纪委消息：经山西省委批准，山西省煤炭工业厅党组书记、厅长吴永平涉嫌严重违纪违法，接受组织调查，并将其“双开”。
2015年8月7日，经中共山西省委批准，中共山西省纪委对第十届山西省委委员、山西省煤炭工业厅原党组书记、厅长吴永平严重违纪问题进行了立案审查。
经查，吴永平严重违反党的政治规矩和组织纪律；对党不忠诚、不老实，欺骗组织，长期非法持有假身份证，隐瞒不报个人重大事项；利用职务上的便利，为 他人谋取利益，卖官鬻爵，官商勾结进行利益输送，收受贿赂。特别是在党的十八大后仍不收敛、不收手，继续收受贿赂，数额巨大，情节严重。其中，受贿问题涉 嫌犯罪。
公开资料显示，吴永平在担任陕西省煤炭工业厅厅长之前，曾任大同煤矿集团公司董事长、党委书记。
有媒体报道称。而吴永平案又很可能是张新明案的持续发酵，山西原金业集团董事长张新明因煤炭发家，曾有“山西首富”之名。
晋能集团首任董事长落马
身为山西第二大煤炭企业，晋能集团除经营煤炭业务外，还涉足电力、房地产、清洁能源等领域。
刘建中为晋能集团首任董事长。之前，刘建中分别担任山西煤运集团董事长、山西国际电力集团董事长。两家企业同为山西省特大型煤炭及能源企业，最终合并重组为目前的晋能集团。
在早前媒体的报道中，刘建中被誉为山西煤销集团转型发展的领军者。
2014年9月，刘建中被山西省纪委带走调查。而就在刘建中被带走调查之前，晋能集团总经理曹耀峰已于20多天前被带走调查。
2015年5月6日，中央纪委监察部网发布消息称山西省纪委对山西省晋能集团有限公司原副董事长、党委副书记、总经理曹耀丰严重违纪问题进行了立案审查，并将其双开。
2015年5月底，山西省纪委通报对刘建中的调查处理结果称，刘建中违反廉洁自律规定，收受礼金购物卡；利用职务上的便利，为他人谋取利益，收受巨额贿赂；其中受贿问题涉嫌犯罪。随后，刘建中案件进入司法程序。
2015年10月20日，山西省太原市检察院决定，对刘建中以受贿罪向山西太原市中级法院提起诉讼。太原市检察院指控，刘建中在担任山西煤运集团及 晋能集团董事长、党委书记期间，利用职务便利，为他人谋取利益，收受贿赂188.5万元人民币、100万港币、30万欧元及5万美元，共折合人民币 544.0651万元。
目前，刘建中案尚未宣判。
潞安集团原董事长官至副省长落马
早前有媒体报道称，有着博士头衔的任润厚被视为能源专家、“救火大队长”，享受国务院津贴。
《中国矿业报》2005年8月一篇有关任润厚的特稿称，当时山西煤干院曾是一个濒临绝境的单位。
时任山西省煤炭厅厅长的王纪仁将任润厚调到山西煤干院任院长。任润厚在山西煤干院进行了“百日革新”，山西煤干院立刻秩序井然。
两年之后，刚入不惑之年的任润厚再次赴企业任职。
从2000年6月起，任润厚调任山西潞安集团，任副董事长、党委副书记、总经理。半年之后，任润厚便开始了长达十年半的潞安矿业董事长生涯。
有着实业管理经验与理论研究基础的任润厚逐渐被视为能源专家，曾荣获中国上市公司“杰出企业家”、“全国最受关注企业家”、山西省五一劳动奖章等多项荣誉。
2010年第6期的《中国煤炭工业》曾刊发有关任润厚的人物特稿，称其“立足煤、超越煤、延伸煤，全力打造煤、电、油、化、硅产业链”，“带领一个庞大国企实现了凤凰涅槃”。
2011年6月，他出任山西省副省长，分管煤炭等领域。
而在2013年3月，任润厚曾经的下属，山西潞安矿业集团原副总经理刘仁生因犯受贿罪、贪污罪、巨额财产来源不明罪，数罪并罚，一审被山西阳泉市中级人民法院判处死刑，缓期二年执行，剥夺政治权利终身，并处没收个人全部财产。
2014年8月29日，任润厚涉嫌严重违纪违法，接受组织调查。一个月后，57岁的他因癌症去世。
2015年4月13日，经中共中央批准，中共中央纪委对山西省原副省长任润厚严重违纪违法问题进行了立案审查，并开除党籍。
经查，任润厚违反廉洁自律规定，收受礼金；贪污公款；严重违反政治规矩和组织纪律，在干部选拔任用中为他人谋取利益，收受贿赂，向他人行贿。其中，贪污、受贿、行贿问题涉嫌犯罪。
