China took over the Presidency of the Council for a period of one month

AP 1st China taking over as rotating President of the UN Security Council this month. Presidency, China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Liu JIEYI said that April the Council will consider Syria, and Yemen and other hot issues, will also hold three public debates.

He said, the Council would be held in April about 30 meetings to consider Syria, and Yemen, the Middle East (Palestine), Somalia and other regional hot-spot issues, and through the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic of a multidimensional integrated extension, extension of United Nations Mission in Western Sahara resolution. In addition, the Council will this month respectively, Israel and Palestine, anti-terrorism and the Gulf of Guinea of pirates three public debates on the issue.

Knot a Liu said, as the Presidency, China is already on the Council's work plan for April with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and General Assembly President Foreign Minister exchanged views. China will continue to adhere to the principle of objective and impartial, efficient, pragmatic, transparent and open, with other members of the Council and the wider United Nations membership and the Secretariat, the Office of the President of the General Assembly to maintain communication and cooperation, ensuring the successful completion of its work in April.

The UN Security Council consists of 5 permanent members and 10 non-permanent members, post of Presidency rotation among the 15 members of the Council, for a period of 1 month. Last time the post was in February last year.

中国接任安理会轮值主席国 任期一个月

　　据新华社电中国1日接任联合国安理会本月轮值主席国。轮值主席、中国常驻联合国代表刘结一说，安理会4月将审议叙利亚、也门等热点问题，还将举行三场公开辩论会。

　　刘结一当天主持安理会磋商，审议通过4月工作计划。他随后分别向联合国非安理会成员及中外媒体介绍了当月安理会工作。

　　他说，安理会4月将举行约30场会议，审议叙利亚、也门、中东（巴以）、索马里等地区热点问题，还将通过联合国中非共和国多层面综合稳定团延期、联合国西撒哈拉特派团延期等决议。此外，安理会本月将分别就巴以、反恐和几内亚湾海盗问题举行三次公开辩论会。

　　刘结一表示，作为轮值主席国，中方已就安理会4月工作计划同联合国秘书长潘基文、联大主席吕克托夫特等交换了意见。中方将继续奉行客观公正、高效务实、透明开放原则，同安理会其他成员、联合国广大会员国及秘书处、联大主席办公室等保持沟通合作，确保顺利完成安理会4月工作。

　　联合国安理会由5个常任理事国和10个非常任理事国组成，轮值主席国一职由安理会15个成员轮流担任，为期1个月。中国上一次担任该职是在去年2月。
