北上入辽的苏企包括化纤大户江苏恒力集团有限公司（下称恒力集团）。恒力集团位于江苏吴江，集团官网显示，集团始建于1994年，原身是吴江化纤制造厂，2002年江苏恒力化纤有限公司成立。此后恒力继续扩张进入热电、酒店和地产领域。
2015年，胡润研究院第四年发布“全球富豪榜”，共有2089位10亿美元以上富豪上榜，恒力集团董事长陈建华，以200亿元排名第330位，再次蝉联苏州首富。
2016年3月，王珉被宣布调查的时间前后，一条关于陈建华被采取强制措施的网帖，在多个论坛中出现。
该网帖称，苏州市吴江区检察院向吴江区人大报告，苏州市吴江区人大代表陈建华涉嫌行贿犯罪，要对陈建华采取强制措施。后经吴江区人大研究决定，依据《全国人民代表大会和地方各级人民代表大会代表法》第32条之规定，许可对陈建华采取强制措施。
经多个信源向《财经》记者证实，陈建华已被相关部门带走。3月16日，一名苏州当地官员也向《财经》记者透露，陈建华于上周被带走，网帖内容为真。
3月17日，苏州市人大常委会人事代表联络工作委员会的工作人员对《财经》记者称，陈建华不但是苏州市人大代表，还是吴江区人大代表，所以检察院要向区人大发报告。他同时证实，苏州市人大也收到了检察机关要求对陈建华采取强制措施的报告，该报告也获得许可。
恒力集团网站关于陈建华最近的新闻是2016年2月29日下午，苏州市民营经济转型升级发展大会上，陈建华被授予“苏州市杰出民营企业家”称号。
目前，恒力集团生产经营活动一切正常，对“老板被带走”一事，许多员工表示不知情。恒力集团新闻发言人乐军通告《财经》记者，该集团的生产经营情况一切良好，至于陈建华个人的情况无法回答。
陈建华因何事被相关部门带走，目前尚不可知。但其被带走的时间和王珉落马时间相差无几。
王珉与恒力集团的最早交集并不可知，但在2005年，长春举办“吉林国有工业企业产权转让暨项目招商大会”，彼时初至吉林但已肩负改制吉林国企之责的王珉，试图借此平台招揽资本实现改制。大会由王珉主持，在其介绍的出席企业代表中就有恒力集团董事长陈建华。
而据恒力集团旗下公司网站显示，王珉在任吉林省委书记时就曾到访过恒力集团。尽管此信息内容已被删除，但文章标题依然可看到，“中共吉林省委书记王珉视察恒力集团”。
王珉入辽不久，恒力集团也进军辽宁。
2010年1月25日，恒力集团与大连长兴岛经济技术开发区管理委员会（下称长兴岛管委会）签约，恒力集团将投巨资在大连长兴岛建设石化产业基地，项目分两期建设。
这一项目在一开始就得到辽宁方面的高度重视，时任省委书记王珉出席签约仪式。
长兴岛位于辽东半岛中西部，四面环渤海，西与秦皇岛、北戴河隔海相望，距离大连主城区120公里，仅一桥与陆地相连。全岛面积 252.5 平方公里。
2005年，长兴岛成立临港工业区，后更名为“大连长兴岛经济技术开发区”，并获国务院批准升级为“国家级经济技术开发区”，国务院要求其“致力于发展高新技术产业和高附加值服务业”。
2010年3月17日，恒力石化（大连）有限公司（下称恒力石化）注册成立，法定代表人陈琪，注册资金58.9亿元人民币。股东是大连恒汉投资有限公司（下称大连恒汉）和恒力投资（大连）有限公司（下称恒力投资），这两家公司控制人为陈建华夫妇。
恒力石化注册成立23天后，恒力石化举行开工奠基仪式。随后，恒力石化就开始大规模建设，但当时恒力石化尚未获得国家发改委的立项核准。
据长兴岛管委会官网显示，2011年4月12日，王珉亲赴长兴岛管委会考察调研，时任大连市委书记夏德仁、长兴岛管委会书记金程陪同，并在恒力石化厂区设了午宴。此次调研十分低调，未见公开报道。
2012年2月14日，王珉再次到恒力石化考察调研。并叮嘱当地官员，要继续发挥临海优势，营造良好发展环境。
2012年9月19日，恒力石化（一期）PTA项目举行投产仪式，王珉出席投产仪式。资料显示，此次投产仪式场面宏大，王珉站在中央为恒力石化投产剪彩。此后，王珉又两次到恒力石化调研，时任长兴岛管委会书记金程变为主陪，此时的金程已是大连市委常委。
王珉先后至少五次到恒力石化调研，省委书记如此频繁到同一企业调研，重视程度之高并不多见。
王珉落马数月前，金程已被调查。2015年9月14日，据中央纪委监察部网站消息，经辽宁省委批准，大连市委常委、长兴岛管委会主任、党工委书记金程涉嫌严重违纪违法，接受组织调查。
据当地知情官员透露，金程的落马不仅涉及大连西岗区，也牵出恒力石化诸多问题。
曾分管土地、环保、城建和港口等单位的大连市原副市长张军，也于2016年2月25日被带走调查。
恒力集团在长兴岛有多个项目，规划占地约10平方公里，仅恒力石化PTA项目就投资340亿元，投产至今产值已过千亿元。
