简单粗暴型：打造一款满足企业级性能、安全、稳定、易管理的开源软件产品卖给企业级客户。红帽集团就在企业建立之初，就为自己的商业模式做足了打算。将Linux产品分为自由Fedora用户社区和更加复杂的Red Hat Enterprise Linux(RHEL)产品。毕竟，企业更注重产品的稳定性和安全性，他们乐于花钱来购买一个能够支撑Linux应用的企业级产品。
传统保底型：在传统的软件销售中，最重要的是让用户买自己的产品，但对于开源软件，通常在使用之初是免费的，所以很多开源软件企业将目光焦灼在提供付费服务上面。但用户习惯了产品特性时，用户就对这种服务就失去了购买的必要。还是2008年被Sun以10亿美元收购的MySQL，都是开源软件商业获利的成功案例。

开源已成为当今世界的主流，但是很多开源软件因其最初是免费的，所以总被当作一种完全出于道义的行为，这种行为似乎不能带来经济利益，只能带来成就感，而现实并非如此；当然，如果你也想通过开源软件来获利，那么你首先要花大把的时间和金钱在一开始建立一个活跃良性循环的社区。
笔者认为，君子爱财，取之有道。开源不仅是一种良性的社区互动，也可以建立一个符合普世道义标准的营利性企业。
