23日晚6时许，位于佛山南海里水湖州工业区内一家沥青混凝土厂的生产车间发生火灾，其间出现多次爆炸，一个装满沥青的槽罐甚至如火箭一般砸向隔壁工厂，幸好落下的地方没有工人。事故中，混凝土厂内有四个正在作业的工人当场死亡。羊城晚报记者发现，该工厂曾多次因为环境污染问题遭到举报，也停产整治过。
隔壁厂160名工人躲过一劫
昨日下午，羊城晚报记者来到事发地——南海铭通沥青混凝土有限公司。此时工厂已全面停产，大门外拉起了警戒线，有几位保安值守。往里望去，可见十多个大型槽罐矗立在厂区中央，几辆消防部门的车辆停在旁边，不时有勘查人员进出现场。一保安表示，发生火灾的是沥青混合料加工厂房，大火烧了约一个半小时，来了十多辆消防车。“事发后厂里就停工了，现在工人已经全部回家，至于是何原因引起火灾我也不清楚”。
陈姨住在距厂门口不到20米的出租屋内。“当时我正在家里做饭，突然听到屋外传来几声闷响，饭桌都晃了几下。我跑出去一看，只见旁边工厂一车间冒出滚滚黑烟，还不时发出爆炸的声音，吓得我赶紧把家人从屋里叫出来躲远点”。

记者发现，去年确实有网友在人民网地方领导留言板上对该厂排废气影响周边居民健康的问题进行过举报，省委办公厅当时将该问题交由佛山市委办公室办理。佛山市和南海区迅速组织有关部门核查督办。调查结果显示，南海铭通沥青混凝土有限公司原为南海区国资企业，后因转制改为私人承包。公司主要从事沥青加工生产，用于一级公路建设。公司有2条沥青混凝土生产线，其中1条已配备粉尘收集处理装置，并于2006年经环保部门审批验收；另一条为闲置旧设备。针对该厂污染问题，南海区、镇两级部门已对其进行多次整治。收到网民反映的问题后，已要求其立即停产，限期完成整改，待通过相关部门监测合格后方能重新投产。
