　　2016年4月29日，外交部长王毅与到访的俄罗斯外长拉夫罗夫举行会谈，王毅介绍了中方在南海问题上的立场。

　　拉夫罗夫表示，俄罗斯认为南海问题应由有关当事国通过直接对话谈判的政治外交手段加以解决。域外势力不应干涉。《联合国海洋法公约》及相关国际法准则，包括中国与东盟国家之间达成的协议，是应当遵循的法律基础。

　　两国外长就南海问题达成重要共识：南海有关争议应在尊重历史事实和国际法基础上，由直接当事国通过协商谈判加以和平解决，国际社会尤其是南海域外国家应为维护南海和平稳定发挥建设性作用，而不是把局势搅乱。
