根据《每日邮报》消息，英国中央刑事法庭开庭审理了一起父亲殴打女儿致死的命案。警方在调查中发现，6岁女童Ellie Butler三年前因头部受重伤死亡可能是由于其父殴打致死。但嫌疑人矢口否认，并坚称Ellie死于车祸。不过这并不影响真相曝光，检方利用3D打印技术复制了两枚死者头骨，并在法庭上展示了头骨伤口位置和复杂情况。

此前，负责该案的法医收集了死者的脑部CT扫描和X光扫描数据，成功地复制了头骨模型。虽然检察官Ed Brown称这些复制品无法作为证据，但可以非常直观方便地解释当时情况，为法庭审理提供帮助。
