4月12日，年仅21岁的大学生魏则西，罹患“滑膜肉瘤”晚期而离世。他曾在西安的一家医院先后接受了4次化疗和25次放疗，但是效果并不理想。魏则西父母并未就此放弃，在北京某肿瘤医院医师的推荐下，通过央视和百度了解“武警北京总队第二医院”后，魏则西父母先行前往考察，并被该医院李姓医生告知可治疗，于是魏则西开始了在武警北京总队第二医院先后4次的治疗，花费了二十多万医疗费后未见好转。后来他又经过了其他多家医院的治疗，最后不幸离世。
4月底，网友找出魏则西在2016年2月26日一则知乎问答，将百度搜索和百度推广推上风口浪尖。4月28日，百度通过“百度推广”微博账号中对此事做出回应，对逝者以慰问，并调查医院资质。4月30日，各路自媒体大V和媒体纷纷撰文。5月1日，百度推广再度发声，表示第一时间向发证单位及武警总部主管该院的相关部门递交审查申请函，希望相关部门能对其治疗效果及内部管理问题立即展开调查，并全力支持魏则西家属维权。5月2日，该门诊被关停，更多媒体报道爆出莆田系承包科室和民营医院虚假宣传各种乱象。5月2日晚，中央网信办负责人发表讲话宣布成立联合调查组，我们宣布欢迎调查并将积极配合，厘清事实真相。

为了不让逝者家属重复悲伤，小风没有公开更多通话信息，然而却被指责“魏父说百度没打过电话，百度在撒谎!”这让堂堂七尺男儿的他辗转反侧——本是替公司表达真诚的慰问，却使公司成了被怀疑的对象，这份委屈让人震惊且愤怒。“有则改之，无则加勉”，我们欢迎各方指正，但是也绝对不允许扭曲事实!
这三天里，我们还在积极申请、配合国家的监督管理。
