莆田系据报道从上世纪80年代开始“行医江湖”，专门瞄上性病、不孕不育、人流等隐私性较高的疾病，在正规医院之外招揽生意。有了原始积累之后，这支民间医疗力量开始建立民营专科医院，承包公立医院的一些科室，业务范围也逐渐向要求使用昂贵医疗设备的大病领域拓展。

坚信绝大多数医生都是好样的，当出了“医闹”新闻时，舆论大多会不自觉地站到医生一边。因为人们都在自己最痛苦的时刻走进过医院，受到过至关重要的帮助。很多人看到了医生是多么辛苦。
这当中如果藏着些许只认钱、或者把钱看得高于一切的“白大褂”，一旦不幸撞上，该让我们多么伤心。正因为这样，魏则西的故事迅速点燃了无数中国人的怒火。
莆田系究竟做了多少丰富民间医疗资源的好事，又干了多少昧了良心的缺德事，他们自己最清楚。昨天的消息说，一个有中央军委后勤保障部卫生局参加的联合调查已经针对武警北京二院展开，这个调查组将揭开魏则西事件背后的隐秘故事成为舆论的普遍预期。
