　　台湾ETtoday东森新闻云网站5月4日引述美国《Newsweek》消息称，这项手术将耗资2000万美金（约合1.3亿元人民币），耗时36小时进行，需要两组医疗团队共150互相合作。

　　医生会先在已经脑死但身体器官健康的捐赠者中找一具适合的身体，然后将患者和捐赠者的身体降温至几乎冷冻，再切断嵴髓和颈部组织，接着将患者头颅移植到新的身体上，整个过程患者将会被麻醉长达1个月，以便让头部和身体完全结合。若是手术成功，斯皮里多诺夫将可以重新行走，用新的身体活动，甚至能用自己原来的声音说话。
