王天朝，男，汉族，1957年9月生，在职博士，中共党员，1975年8月参加工作。其曾历任云南省第一人民医院办公室副主任，省卫生人员培训中心主任，龙云医药实业有限公司总经理，省卫生厅科教处处长、办公室主任，省第一人民医院党委书记、院长等职务。2014年9月，涉嫌严重违纪被调查。
云南省纪委此前表示，经查，2004年至2014年，王天朝利用担任云南省第一人民医院院长的职务之便，在工程建设、医疗器械和药品试剂采购、人事任命和职称评定等方面为他人谋取利益，从中收受他人现金贿赂共计4500余万元人民币，收受价值8400余万元的房产100套、车位100个，因此被外界称为“双百院长”，此两项合计逾1.29亿元。此外，王天朝本人还交代收受礼金150万元。
云南省纪委称，该专案是一起典型的“十八大以后不收敛、不收手，问题线索反映集中、群众反映强烈，现在重要岗位且可能还要提拔使用的领导干部”的腐败案件，涉及医疗卫生领域的腐败问题，案情复杂、社会关注，危害严重、影响恶劣。涉案人员除王天朝外，还涉及部分处、科级干部、医疗专家和私营企业人员。
检方表示，检察机关在审查起诉阶段告知了被告人王天朝有权委托辩护人等诉讼权利，依法讯问了被告人王天朝，并听取了王天朝及其委托的辩护人的意见。
起诉书指控：被告人王天朝利用其担任云南省第一人民医院院长职务上的便利，为他人谋取利益，非法收受他人财物，数额特别巨大，依法应当以受贿罪追究其刑事责任。(完)
