一名办案民警透露，在走访调查大量民众时，有目击者称，这条鲸鲨被打捞上岸时，已确认死亡。“一些经验丰富的老渔民分析，这条鲸鲨游到北海海域时可能已带病。”
这名民警称，因鲸鲨已开始发臭，不能食用，廖某、黄某才将其以低价格在市场上出售。
